  1. Ice Cliff Glacier on Stuart is a fun, but not too technical, winter route.
  2. Being a florist is a lot like surfing cc.com because you spend most of your time avoiding all the pricks.
  3. If you're in Ouray: http://www.ouraysports.com/
  4. http://www.trango.com/recall.php
  5. The pulley at 1 acts as a redirect, so only 2 feet of rope goes through it when the rescuer pulls 6 feet. One downside to this system is that there is no ratchet mechanism as shown. The rescuer would have to pull up on the tie in strand of the rope through the prusik at the anchor as well. Or one could add a prusik to the pulley at 1.
  6. That sounds right. The second best pulley should probably go at point 2 because, although the loads are the same, it has three times the rope travel as point 1.
  7. Real men holster their tools through their hoop earrings.

    WTB: Tent...

Wal-Mart has a good selection of tents as well.
  9. RTFM Snowmobiling In the southwest corner of the park, snowmobiles are permitted for 6.5 miles along the Westside Road from its junction with the main park road as far as Round Pass. Beyond Round Pass, the Westside Road is closed to snowmobile use. Snowmobiles are also permitted on all the road loops of Cougar Rock Campground. The campground is closed to overnight use during winter and the roadway is left unplowed. Contact a park ranger at the Longmire Museum for maps and additional snowmobile information. On the north side of the park, no ranger station is open in the winter. The US Forest Service District Office in Enumclaw provides information, maps and permits for White River, Carbon River, and Mowich Lake areas. For more information, call the USFS District Office in Enumclaw at (360)825-6585. Highway 410 is closed near its junction with Crystal Mountain Ski Area road, at the North Park Boundary. Snowmobiles are permitted on the 12-mile section of unplowed road from the North Park Boundary on Highway 410 to the White River Campground. Snowmobiles may not continue on Hwy 410 south of the White River Road turnoff. They are also prohibited from proceeding beyond the closure at the White River Campground road junction towards Sunrise. Snowmobiles must stay on the road corridor; they are not allowed to proceed beyond the campground towards Glacier Basin. Be aware of avalanche danger and the Mount Rainier weather forecast. In the southeast corner of the park snowmobiling is allowed on the Stevens Canyon Road from the Stevens Canyon Entrance to the road tunnel at Box Canyon. Wilderness permits, required for all backcountry camping, and climbing registration cards are available at the north boundary arch on Highway 410 and the US Forest Service office in Enumclaw or by self registration at the Ohanapecosh Ranger Station.
  10. I've heard they will be outsourcing the climbing to India to save money.
  11. The indoor wall at the Mountaineers Clubhouse in Magnuson Park was built for scheduled classes and events for club members and guests. It will not be run like Vertical World or Stone Gardens. The wall isn't that big (only ~6 ropes and 20 ft tall), so it would probably get old fast. The outdoor wall and boulder were built by the Mountaineers and donated to Seattle Parks. They are open to the public when the park is open except when reserved for special events. The climbing plaza will be managed by Seattle Parks and the Mountaineers. Please go out and have fun. You can call The Mountaineers @ 206 521 6000 for more details.

Or just get a freaking room and get it over with.
  13. Some things *are* worth it. Mmmm... Wool... baa baa baa baa
  14. Yikes! That doesn't sound fun. It looked pretty deep right there. It wasn't over knee deep. We repeated Pax and Dave's route on the left side after wandering around on the approach for a while. There was a fixed blue rope on the left side of the first pitch. We were going to pull it but it was frozen into the ice.
  15. While out xc skiing the neighborhoods, I found some really sweet ice floes in Renton. A little thin for leading, but definitely top-ropeable.
  16. Golite made a vapor barrier vest for a while. Here's a review: http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/00086.html
  17. Rumor has it that Obama has offered Monica a staff position as Head Intern. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
  18. Forget polypew. Real men love their wool. baa baa baa baa Icebreaker
  19. Which explains why Bush was elected in 2000 and re-elected in 2004. When political machines spend 100's of millions of dollars on propaganda appealing to fear, the outcome of voting is sure to be skewed. So people like you voted for Bush because of TV ads? Didn't Obama outspend McCain 5:1 in the last month of the last election?
