JayB.... "Dwayner: "You've got your opinion, they've got theirs." And??? "If you can prove that yours is objectively true in any domain other than your own mind, then I'll nominate you to dicate what is and is not acceptable in terms of route development for all of mankind." Read some of the arguments above and a wealth of others that hold my same opinion. It's not just in "my mind". This is old stuff, man, and incorporates environmental and other issues. Your nomination of me as dictator will, unfortunately, hold little weight in this crowd. I will, therefore, appoint myself "Dictator of Route Development for All Mankind." "Until such proof is forthcoming, you'll just have to live with the fact that your opinions on this matter are no more and no less valid than those belonging to the locals at Shelf in theoretical terms, and quite a bit less valid in practical terms since it is they, and not you, who call the shots out there." No, I believe mine are more valid....that's why I maintain them. Unless these crack-bolters personally own the rock, I don't think they (F.A.'s or otherwise) have an exclusive right to determine how it might be used and abused. I also believe in expressing my opinion in hopes that some of the lesser-informed folks might get a clue that there is controversy surrounding their activities.

Bro. JayB, he say: "he claimed that the bolters checked in with the FA's prior to bolting trad lines and that they had given the green light to go ahead...Assuming that was the case, if the FA's had no problem with it, neither did I. And neither should anyone reading this at their computer half-way across the country, either IMO, unless it was wildly inconsistent with the local ethics (it's not)." Who care's what the "FA"s have to say. It's wrong ,and so are they, no matter where I live. From what I read way up above, this is some of the same goofy logic applied to the Dan's Dreadful Direct fiasco and subsequent debate. Dwayner
  4. There's a wacky rumor floating about that Mr. Trask will show up. There was a similar rumor about a year ago that he was the mysterious man sitting at the bar at the Spar Tavern in Tacoma. It was that time when Cap'n fell backwards in his chair and a couple of our men in uniform were workin' on some co-eds at an adjacent table. That's all I remember from that night. Trask....be there. Caveman will buy you a beer.
  5. After the "Clean Plate Club", this one's my favorite: It's very easy to join. There shouldn't be a problem with the fish as long as they's gots fins and scales, and the guy behind the counter knows what he's doing, and the utensil's are clean, and the fish was bought just that day, and then kept on ice and.......never mind....fins and scales!
  6. Caveman's comments about the 7-11 next door got me all convinced. Redmond would be a fine place for a change. Someone give Michelle and Laura a ride. And if Lisa is who I think she is (she used to come to pub club and read poetry), she's fun at a party!
  7. History Time...once again. it wasn't all that long ago, back when pube-club was in it's infancy, that I was called a BIG WHINEY BABY for "fighting" over where people might drink beer. once again, a girl (this time the delightful ehmmic) threatens a no-show if it ain't on her turf (and as usual, I predict more males talkin' 'bout Ballard real soon now). uhhhh......where....uh....where you wanna have it, uhhh, Icegirl???

"Crynoid Corner - 5.7 FA: Unknown Pro: 9 draws to a 2 bolt anchor Details: This route is located directly up from the parking area at Cactus Cliff. Very prominent BOLTED CRACK at the far right. This is a well protected route making it a very good beginner lead. " WEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It sounds so matter-of-fact it makes you wonder if some of the people are completely unaware that such a bolt-fest might be considered controversial. You want bolt flame-war? It's right below the surface for many of us. - Dwayner
  9. All is forgiven, squid-breath...here, have some pastrami!
  10. Squid say: "Don't do it, kids. I stepped up to the plate and asked my stupid question, only to be greeted with derision, bizarre photos, and groans of 'Didn't someone post that question last year?" Dude....you asked for recipes and you got some solid advice and some good humor. What you talkin' bout, Willis!! Meanwhile, back at Base Camp.... And I ask again...
  11. No, there are now three, as I bet Rob-Bob = RURP.
  12. This here alpine hone-master is chompin' (and more than just a little bit anxious) for his first big-wall experience. He' tanned, racked and ready. Are you???
  13. Do you have a problem with that?
  14. that j-b feller say: "the goal never justifies the means. In fact the means fully condition the end result. Ergo, if you want to stop violent crime don't use violence to reach that goal (unless you are protecting life in the heat of the action). The death penalty sustains violence. " Dwayner say: What law of the universe is this? Although I may share some of your views (but then again, maybe not), your statement is really not much more than a trendy cliché or generalization.
  15. "Mike Crapo" What an unfortunate name!
  16. King Freshie-Tim ask: "we never did determine though when cc.com jumped the shark, that is a crucial event" Why that was back in October if I recall. "Whatya be havin', Dwayner?"
  17. you know why? Ironically, you have great freedom to choose to be a real jackass in this country and a lot of immature folks exploit that fact.
  18. Colin....you spoiled little American. You need to do some traveling and see how most of the rest of the world lives. America is a work in progress. It is not perfect now, nor will it ever be. Maybe the drug and prostitution laws here can be reformed or capital punishment abolished...but not everyone agrees that they should, and ultimately in a democracy it tends to get sorted out. If this were a dictatorship, and you were in charge, we could it have everything JUST YOUR WAY. Right now, you're just 1 in 280 million, afloat in a sea of many visions of how things should be, and if you care enough, and convince enough people that you're right, there is a possibility things might change. So go ahead and post your little laughing gremlins, talk about how lame this country is (which is your right), but keep in mind how lucky you are to be able to bitch and initiate change. - Dwayner

    yo

Come on over, trask. You can join our study group!
  20. Funny you should say that.....do you know what week this is???
  21. Hey Muffy/sk.....you wanna know what stinks? Your language. It has really deteriorated lately. Be different, show a little more class as you once did. Nuff said. aloha, Dwayner
  22. "After the Amber Incident, I just considered them Public Messages anyway..." Somebody say "Amber"?
  23. Most valuable things you can bring: - the "warmest" sleeping bag you can find. - climbing buddies you can get along with and trust. Too many folks put together "teams" on this mountain based on their willingness and ability ($$$) to go, rather than compatibility and adequate experience or preparation.
  24. So I guess this is gonna turn into a "look how fit I am because I gotta low pulse" brag-fest. Maybe Dru already knew the answer to his question but wanted to let YOU know! O.K., then.......mine is 5.
