    I Was Wrong

Now I have you in quotes. Let's come back to this thread on November 5th and see if you will say you are wrong on your wrong.
  3. Don't forget. The NW trailhead park pass is also good for one full year FROM the month you buy it.
  4. I always buy shorts from Goodwill becuase I glissade come spring or early summer...but the butt eventually wears out, so I buy $1.00 shorts. They seem to always have some nylon shorts in stock. Sometimes I wear the shorts over the expensive goretex pants as a "protective layer" so the goretex doesn't shread. They also have other good outdoor stuff clothes which they don't know is expensive, but you gotta look hard and often.
  5. buy mapping software. Then print your maps on regular paper and give copies to every one in your party--but carry yours in a plastic bag of some type. This way, you can trash the paper instead of having to "take care" of the single map you have of the area. I also have another copy of the map in the backpack in case I accidently lose my first one somewhere on the trip.
  6. steal other folks ideas and pass'em off as yer own! oooo. didn't see that one. oops.
  7. Plan ahead with water to save weight. If need energy from drinks, bring electrolyte pills instead. Do not carry water if you think you are going to pass several streams. Instead, buy one of those collapsible plastic cups and keep it in your pocket. When you come across a stream, pull out the cup and drink from the stream. It beats bending over with a pack and drinking from the stream. here's what one looks like: http://www.shopzilla.com/8N_-_cat_id--12040100__nwylf--__oid--702179962
  8. Duct tape is useful for things that break in the backcountry, but how to bring duct tape without bringing the whole roll? Rap duct tape around your ski poles for how much you think you need. Can also rap duct tape around MSR fuel bottles.
  9. some a little more challenging than a walkup...but might be fun with the kid as it is minor scrambling Mt. Forgotten Del Campo/Gothic Sperry Mt. Pugh Breccia
  10. Go with Denali Ascents. I have a friend who weighs about 180lbs and broke the fabric on the Lightning Ascents on the second day out. I have heard of rumors of other people breaking on the fabric too. But I also know someone who weighs about 120lbs and loves the Lightning Ascents.
  11. I have a closet in my house that is 20 feet long by 7 feet wide--that's where I keep my stuff I have shelves for everything I hang all my clothes and sleeping bags All my climbing hardwear is hung on a pegpoard--I have found the pegpoard extremely helpful This organization helps me out becuase all I have to do is visually "scan" for something and there it is. I have noticed that I rarely forget anything becuase I can see everything when I pack.
  12. i wish disco would be back in vogue. i feel lonely.

    Poor horse...

Yea, that post does seem suspicious....but the fact of the matter is my wife is a sexual offender therapist for adolescents....and the stories....well, they are interesting.
  15. And how much does a newest fighter jet cost? I think $60million? If that is true, you could build 6 of them. I think 6 fighter jets would be more worth it.

    Poor horse...

you would be surprised how often this actually happens around the Puget Sound area--when they are caught. Juveniles do it most frequently, but the news outlets do not report on these activities. hay bails are the preferred method of choice for getting up there.
  17. hey that's pretty cool thanks for sharing
  18. hopefully they will cut police for less traffic tickets!
  19. bouldering is still the truest sense of climbing. its just you and the rock baby! crash pads are aid.

    Where to honeymoon?

Its fine in September, not too hot, not too cold. You just have the problem with a potential hurricane...but anywhere in the Carribean has this potential problem from about mid August to the end of October.

  23. I wish I could have started at 5.10b as a new climber.
  24. this actually is good news. what it means is: It will be too costly to run the justice system, so laws need to change, so they only keep the really bad people. One result, the legalizing of small amounts of pot. Its coming.
  25. It can be done...but won't happen. The only way it can be done is to eliminate the amount spent on national defense. What percentage of the tax revenue do the Swiss spend on national defense?
