  1. don't know if this one's been posted yet, but i saw it this weekend and it definitely made me giggle: red meat is not bad for you; fuzzy green meat is bad for you
  2. well, our trip through hell's canyon was somewhat of a bust. we got weathered out! here was our magnificent view: guess we're gonna have to go again sometime ...
  3. revenue enhancement?
  4. i agree. (and i'm totally with dru.) it's just poor lazy form. the people you probably see doing it are probably the same people you've seen doing it before. i don't know how many times i've had to clean gear on rappel, but i do at least know how to do it.
  5. lover's leap. it's not alpine, but it's multipitch ... and some of them feel quite exposed. well worth visiting if you've never been. there are several good 5.7 routes there ... supertopo info.
  6. wow; that is f'ed up!

    Yukon Ho

    that looks amazing!
  8. don't wanna camp?
  9. i've used the endurance in good weather in late spring/early summer. they call it the "endurance bag cover" because that's basically what it is. no zippers or mesh or anything. but yeah, it is LIGHT and SMALL. also, the endurance is not going to breathe very well but just depends what you want/need it for in the end. i'm looking for something a little beefier that i wouldn't mind being cooped up in on top of rainier but will also be useful for just about anything else i could possibly want to do with it. (and hey, why are stuff sacks *always* too small for the stuff they're supposed to get stuffed with anyway?)
  10. did you ever get the salathe? use it yet? comments? i was thinking about the salathe or the unishelter for myself ...
  11. bye, tex. it was nice when you were around - you were always smiling and in good positive spirits. best wishes with your schooling ...
  12. plastics??? ugh! many of us prefer to endure some cold to climb in boots that are [perhaps] lighter and [generally] more comfortable.
  13. we were actually thinking about driving out to hat point. can't wait to see the canyon!
  14. i'm finding it rather amusing.
  15. nice work! i wish i had [had] opportunities to do things like this when i was that young. what a great first "backpacking" trip.
  16. where were you hiking? have any spots in particular you'd recommend? it is so huge and we have so little time we're still not sure what to do.
  17. hey ryanl. i met you and kirk as markws and i were heading down from colchuck lake. we had wondered about doing the serpentine arete earlier in the week but figured it was probably still wet. sounds like it was just dry enough for you guys to be successful, though. nice work!
