hey ryanl. i met you and kirk as markws and i were heading down from colchuck lake. we had wondered about doing the serpentine arete earlier in the week but figured it was probably still wet. sounds like it was just dry enough for you guys to be successful, though. nice work!

you shouldn't even need a nut tool. a 'biner works just fine. (and i like the ushba tool! )

not sure you're only asking about ice, but i generally carry a couple of rap rings and chain links with me. i've had to leave a nut or two in the past and it's nice to have some inexpensive hardwear to attach to it instead of a more expensive 'biner.

well, with how you're suggesting others handle the birds i'm surprised you didn't just yard the rocks loose and let *them* fly!
