  1. and how about the people that did neither?
  2. seriously, though, those numbers don't really tell us much. how about the actual name?
  3. that's a cool-looking truck ... but i doubt it gets very good mileage. and i've been told dualies suck in the snow.
  4. i think he meant sil - as in sil-coated nylon. just a "fancy" lightweight stuff sack material. you can use any type of stuff sack. i would recommend against the mesh ones, though, unless you use pretty hearty mesh or don't expect it to get crazy cold. i ripped a few using them as anchors because the mesh wasn't as strong as the bond of the ice that had formed overnight.
  5. awesome pics, luke! glad you're having such a wonderful time over there.
  6. if you just want to stand on top of the world, then the means don't really matter. if you want to CLIMB the highest mountain in the world (perhaps using what you believe is the purest climbing style) ... well, you get the picture. to each his own, whether we agree with it or like it or not.
  7. next they'll be designing entire bathroom sets and kitchen accessories. snaffle cookie jar ... that would help me lose some weight.
  8. the only thing i like out of a can is barqs root beer. it's the only kind of beer i like. well, that and snoqualmie avalanche and belgian appel witbiers. YUM! ps - i do miss the big R where the big T now is ...
  9. and? i remember the commercials. but i don't think i've ever tasted the beer. not really my thing.
  10. didn't make the pub club but the libary event was very cool. packed audience! i thought all 4 speakers were quite interesting.
  11. the library thing sounds more interesting anyway.
  12. i thought cap's post was funny shit.
  13. i would think! i could see some application for the wheelchair-bound, though ...
  14. you know something we all don't? you better be ready for it in case it comes ...
  15. how would you feel if your child/father/brother/wife was in need of rescue but the SAR group was unavailable because they were out rescuing someone's dog? this group was not set up to save animals. i'm not saying animals don't deserve to be saved, but look at the bigger picture. in the end, the precious dog got saved and the guy who did it deserves praise ... but that doesn't mean you have to go knocking everybody else in the world who didn't. and you certainly don't need to go knocking an all-volunteer organization that could some day save YOUR ass.
  16. i haven't been up cashmere so can't really speak to it specifically, but i mountain-biked in a burned out area in derby canyon last weekend. i think these places are still beautiful despite their burns.
  17. looks f'ing weird if you ask me. has anybody on this board ever done (or even seen) this? flying would be cool ...
  18. i would guess that, too, since his location says "MD". his first post says this person's glacier exp is limited to book knowledge, but it's plenty easy to practice setting up pulley systems and whatnot without a real crevasse to do it in, and it sounds like they've spent some work doing that.
  19. thanks for the rant!
  20. cj001f, that's what i was thinking about nick's response. i think nick's problem isn't the binding, but the fact that he's talking about different skis - as in, havocs are not supposed to turn on a dime. lots of people use dynafits on fat skis -- without control issues.
