  1. "can't" and "wouldn't" are two different stories.
  2. i hope your dog taught the other dog a lesson! grr!!!
  3. money is the reason this whole fiasco even went to trial. it's amazing how much wrong people will claim has happened to them just so they can get a shot at some.
  4. oj was an asshole. mj is not. yay, mj!!!
  5. spent all weekend in l-worth with climbing gear but didn't manage to get any climbing in ... again. did go on my first downhill mountain bike ride, though. f'ing scary!

who doesn't like the smell of coffee? nothing wrong with the smell of coffee. but smelly coffee breath is gross. not as bad as smelly coffee smoker's breath, though!

    No Coffee

good on you, dru. it's a smelly, expensive habit!
  8. i "camped" at the bivi area the first time i drove to smith. it was dark, i'd never been there before (didn't know about the grasslands), and i was tired. i dragged my sleeping bag and pad somewhere there was an open spot, slept, got up early and got outta there. almost didn't make it though - they definitely make the rounds. (after that, i've pretty much always gone to the grasslands.) i've used the showers at the "real" campground a number of times and never got hassled. if you've never been to smith and drive in a night, it's a pretty cool experience to wake up and see it for the first time as your own morning fog wears off ...
  9. sorry to hear that, bill. that totally sucks!
  10. that's pretty gross. be careful and considerate out there! please!!!
  11. way to be persistent. hopefully it will pay off next time!
  12. hmm ... that reminds me of the time me and col. von spanker climbed observation rock (old thread). very NOT cool! i live in laurelhurst, not far from the u district, so i wouldn't doubt it was the same group of assholes. when i filed my police report the officer told me she had gotten lots of those calls ...
  13. the key is to not just know how aggressive you are, but what kind of skiing you are going to be doing. multi-day touring trips where you're not skiing the tram line in chamonix are going to require a different ski than actually skiing the tram line in chamonix. well, maybe "require" is not the right word ... but having tools more suited to the task is going to make the task a bit nicer. i have naxos on dynastar little big fats ("alpine" skis) that i use, and this year i added dynafits on volkl norbert joos (an "at" ski). i also have "telemark" skis that i use in a downhill setup, and downhill skis that i use in a tele setup. (and the tele skis i have are actually a bit stiffer in the flex than their twin alpine counterpart - to support the flex of the tele turn.) pick the ski you want (or find a good deal on the type of ski you want), put the binding you want on 'em, and ski your ass off! ps - i know aggressive dudes who like the seth pistols and havocs.
  14. not going to post the link but i thought this was great: "These are the same kind of shoes that Tom Cruise used in Mission Impossible 2, if you care."

    summer job?

i think were talking about two different things here, but anyway ... a law degree - "JD" stands for Juris Doctor which is a Doctor of Juriprudence which is a Doctor of Laws, etc. but i wouldn't use the title "doctor". people would be highly confused by it. mike, shouldn't be too difficult to find a job painting somewhere. have you tried talking to locals in any of those towns???
  16. we're not really that kind of a club so to speak, but you can look for climbing partners here.
  17. that sounded cool. until i looked at the website. now it sounds creepy!
  18. i'd be careful. don't know where you live, but it could have been someone in your building. totally sucks. i was scared leaving my car in its usual spot last night, but fact is i don't really have anywhere else better to put it!
  19. what a nice guy! he's probably seen it before and it's very cool that he was willing to do something about it.
