pnut Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Hey everyone....i have 3 pairs of rock shoes that need resoling. I'm looking for a place in seattle, relatively inexpensive, relatively fast, relatively good job. I don't need a super sporty job- just something for my all day shoes....Any ideas anyone ...Thanks in advance Quote
jon Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Are you the bassist from 311? Do a search for resoles, there has been a ton of talk about this. beer yummy yum yum Quote
Paul_detrick Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Dave Page cobbler, does a great job, should be in the phone book. Quote
JayB Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Another vote for Ramuta's. 2-3 day turnaround, super-high quality. Have to give DP a based on my final visit to his shop. Quote
PONCHO&LEFTY Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Dave Page was very bad in my experience with his shop. LONG turnaround! Friend had his soles come apart quick from him too. Quote
chucK Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 They must like JayB more than me (who doesn't?) 'cause I've never gotten anything less than a week turnaround at Ramuta's. Always seems to do a good job. I've heard lots of people bitch about Dave Page, but I've never had a bad experience with them except for the fact that he can be really surly. One time one of my rock shoes had a small part that was delaming (after bringing them in for a new resole) and he did them for free (though was surly about it). Another time I brought my hiking boots in to get a patch in the uppers. I don't know what they were thinking but they did resoles on 'em! Didn't charge me. Quote

scot'teryx Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Ramuta rulez, always a 2-3 day turnaround. You can drop them off at vertical world or stone gardens for convenience. I lie his work. I have heard many climbers up north here like to send their shoes down to the rubber room, takes to long IMO Quote
catbirdseat Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 I just had Ramuta do my shoes and I was very happy with the work he did. Quote
erik Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 i have had shoes recently resoled at both. ramuta's had a quick turn around and the resole has lasted thru many days of climbing. dave page took 2 weeks and the the job is shit. he has bulked up the toe by adding rand material and now it feels insensitive. go ramuta or valley cobbler in kent over dave page. Quote
erik Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 oh yeah page is $50 and rummate is $40 seems weird the better job cost less! Quote

Lambone Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 John Ramuta picks up shoes at the locla climbing gyms. VW and SG. He does the best job I have ever seen. Quote
blue_morph Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 does he do mountain shoes (boots, plastics, etc) as well? Quote
Lambone Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 I believe so, he has done my approach shoes... Quote

Gotta agree here...Ramuta is where its at...Dave Page? Ha, might as well go to Michelin...if he does the work, its only ok...if one of his "helpers" does it, throw them in the trash can...ruined two pairs of shoes of mine...i will never go back there... GO TO RAMUTA if you want them done right and cheap... Quote
sobo Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Geezus! Am I ever glad I clicked on this thread. I used to use DP but haven't needed a resole in a few years. I remember he did good work back the last time, on my rock shoes and mountainh boots, but was kinda cantankerous. I'm getting ready to do this year's resole of shoes and I was just gonna go straight to DP. I'll be rethinking that move now... Thanks for the link to Ramata, guyz. Quote
mtngrrrl Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 John Ramuta just rebuilt my shoes from the grave. Plus he's a nice guy. He gets major from me. Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Anyone notice the picture on his homepage lately? Distel is pulling hard on Chain Reaction  So did they move out of Seattle?? I am in desperate need of a resole Quote
RuMR Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 he still does shoes even though he's in montana...go to the vw or mail them yourself...turnaround time is not bad at all... Quote
