had to go there and see the "bad" news. looks like this winter will be warm and dry. suppose that is good (alpine and cragging) and bad (ski pass holder).

The forest is predicting an early and cold winter. Read the signs.

just by going by the predicted maps, it shows normal temp and below average precip for nearly every month and 3 month timeframe. it is supposed to be colder than normal and drier for the fall. where is the forecast of cold winter you speak of?

I heard EC is predicting warm and dry for SWBC. I am hoping for a repeat of the glorious winter of 2005 with superhigh snowline and three months of sunny inversion.

It's probably because the ice-climbers are in such miserable conditions most of the time, we have to take out our rage on the skiers who just float in pow all winter.

We had two awesome back-to-back ski years that blew chunks for climbing. Now we get the inverse. Go with the flow.

Not sure where you're getting the information you're talking about... the pictures in the linked page don't say warm, they say equal chances for above/normal/below temp. They do say below normal precip.

 

The discussion indicates an el nino is likely, but that a strong el nino seems unlikely to develop at this point.
