glassgowkiss Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Ivan- according to AMA "universal precaution" is still the best method of infection prevention, not mass vaccinations. For the past few years (particularly 2 years ago) influenza vaccination was pretty much worthless, as the predictions of the strains were completely off. Even now- looking at this year's events the timing is completely off. It is fear mongering- world wide there were fewer then 5000 deaths caused by H1N1. I feel sorry for your kid, but you must remember she is in a vast minority. Sucks for you and her, but lets keep things in the perspective. I hope she bounces back soon- honestly. Quote
ivan Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 no worries ggk - i'm not afraid now nor was i earlier - i understand this particuliar infectious agent is not bad compared to several thousand years of comparable agents - kev seems more of the "all vaccinations are bad" persuasion though, which is patently stupid (though feel free to qualify that there kev) who though are you accusing of fear-mongering ggk? if it's the media, then it's yelling into the hurricane - of course they love fresh blood and at the moment that's the closest thing in town - if yellow fever could claw its way back into the world, i'm sure they' change focus! (and what a cool illness, by the by - the yellow jack was once called "the american plague" and plainly showed the effects of evolution as it was something liek 70% mortal for honkies but only 10% for africans, who'd been exposed to it in their native continent for millenia) Quote

Like dumping a lot resources into anti-viral research caused antibiotics to fall behind. Another force behind fear mongering are pharmaceutical companies. 10-15 years ago influenza vaccinations were for elderly, children, healthcare workers and such groups- so why do we mass vaccinate general population? tvashtarkatena Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Vaccines are for pussies. Tough it out. Quote
Pete_H Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Shit man I put H1N1 on my cornflakes in the morning for flavor. Quote

Pharmaceutical companies, genius, work for profit and on demand or else they gonna loose big time, real fast. If H1N1 vaccine and Viagra is what you are after, then it is what they make. Quote
G-spotter Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Nobody makes money on vaccines. They make it on lifestyle drugs. Quote
YocumRidge Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Nobody makes money on vaccines. They make it on lifestyle drugs. Oh really? Did you look at the H1N1 vaccine stocks as of late? 30% increase in 6 days? Quote

Did you look at the H1N1 vaccine stocks as of late? 30% increase in 6 days? What does each dose sell for? What does each dose cost to produce? How many times will the average person require a H1N1 vaccination? Now compare that to the same numbers for something like Viagra that someone might take hundreds of times a year. Quote

How many impotent males worldwide can afford the "lifestyle" drugs? How many impotent males worldwide use the "lifestyle" drugs? (it is probably free in Canada so that does not count) What are the side effects of the "lifestyle" drugs? And what is a failure rate of the "lifestyle" drugs? Better yet, why don't you start a new thread "VIAGRA" on CC and we will figure that out. Quote

olyclimber Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 and instead, what if every time you got a boner, you donated 16 dollars to the WCC Index Fund. and Jon, how did you know the exact price just off the top of your head like that? Quote
