My wife passed away peacefully at home at 6:35 pm. She had battled breast cancer for 8 years. She fought hard, survived five years beyond the predicted. She did a lot of productive things with those years. She will be missed by many.

Condolences bro.

Life is an amazing and puzzling journey, as we grow older together we begin to appreciate the small things and moments.

You are in my thoughts, be safe and feel the love.

Brian, I've never met you or your wife, but your love and concern for her has always been tenable thru your posts. I am very sorry to hear of her passing. My heart goes out to you as you take these first steps forward without her by your side. :(

It's looking like the memorial will be in the garden in the back yard of our house on Saturday afternoon, July 18. It's going to be informal. We'll probably fire up the barbeque. Maybe cook off some salmon. It is what she would have wanted.

Brian,

I am saddened to hear of your beloved wife's passing. Although not a religious person, I will offer prayers for you and your kids and wish all of you strength of heart as you cope with your loss and move forward in your lives.

There is nothing much to say other than offer our condolences. I hope you have close family and friends to spend some time with to grieve and celebrate her life. Best wishes.

Brian, Though we've never met, I have enjoyed your cyber companionship over the years. I want to express my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. All the best to you. In her time in this world, by all appearances your wife had a wonderful partner.

Seems a waste to throw away so many expensive pharmaceutical products like Novalog Flexpen insulin syringes when people are scrimping to pay for them.

Indeed. I'm told by my wife, who is a nurse, that by law pharmacies cannot take back drugs. She mentions that those headed out on medical missions--through churches or professional organizations--will receive drugs originally prescribed for others. Another possibility may be a local clinic such as one of the many neighborhood clinics in Seattle (some of which cater to the low-income and homeless), but am not sure--perhaps someone else more knowledgeable about health care management, especially around Seattle, knows more.

I don't imagine there are a huge number of diabetic climbers.

Anyone grow orchids? I just repotted the entire collection and I have divisions: Cattleya bowringiana, Cattley deckerii, Lc Carras, Sarcochilus hartmannii, Masdevallia Prince Charming 'Florizel', and others.

I am so sorry. I can't even imagine losing my wife, little less after 8 years of struggle.

Keep being strong and looking forward, it'll be worth your while.

So sorry for your loss. My sister has breast cancer. It's difficult to have someone so dear to you go through this. My thoughts are with you even though I don't know you.

Cat - just now looking at this thread. My condolences for your loss. Didn't you also have some significant health issues of your own? How are you doing? I was just in LB to see my parents, will have to remember you're down that way now.
