Kit Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I'm thinking there are some absurdly swift ascents. How long has it taken you? I'm assuming Ulrich's is the fastest route (when in condition)? I did the southeast route a few years ago and, being a mere mortal, it was a very long day and I remember being pretty worked afterward... I'm thinking about trudging up there again with some friends and I'm curious to see how much better (or worse!) I'll feel this time around. By the way, should I bother to bring the crampons this time? Quote
sill Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I think Guy Edwards climbed the North Ridge in six hours or so. For technical routes that might be the fastest. I know of others who are pretty close to that time on the N. Ridge. Quote
gyselinck Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I once climbed the Cascadian Couloir in 17 hours (car - car). Quote
suckbm Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 As of now it appears no crampons would be needed Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 do you mean to tell me Cascadian is IN? Where are my gaiters Quote
spicoli11 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 dude....i was think'in of moonwalk'in the cascadian a mile on sand is two on land Quote
SilverGoat Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I was there last weekend and agree with the previous post that crampons aren't necessary there yet. The snow is only up high and what's there is pretty soft. At least on the South side. The North side routes are probably different. It took me 4 hours up the Cascadian from the base to the east summit. I consider myself a fit, 47 year old once a month climber. I'd add another half hour for the traverse to the true summit depending on the number of climbers and their skills. Descent was half the time. Ulrich's Couloir is more direct, but more scrambling's involved, so it just depends on what kind of experience you want to have. Quote
DPS Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 3 hours parking lot to summit on Cascadian Couloirs. But that was when I was trail running a lot. Quote
Alpinfox Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 3 hours parking lot to summit on Cascadian Couloirs. But that was when I was trail running a lot. Damn that's fast! Miles Smart climbed W. Ridge car-to-car in 5:50. p.s. Standard Speedclimbing post addendum: Dan Howwwitt sucks donkey balls. Quote
chucK Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 You suck donkey balls! The West Ridge is an excellent outing! Quote
dbb Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 W. ridge sucks as much donkey balls. spoken like someone who'd know? WEST RIDGE ROCKS DONKEY BALLS! Didn't miles smart climb the Full North ridge w/ gendarme a little faster or slower than Guy? Something like 6:30 car to car. Search the site, there is info on here somewhere about it.. Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 6:30 full north ridge car to car (from Ingall's side?) is fuckin' cruising king missile speed. We did it somewhat casually in 17 hours car to car over ingall's, not complete. Quote
pzack Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I might have the record for the longest ascent. Did the WR in something like 37 hours. Bivied at the base of the route and then again at the top of the cascadian. Good Times. Quote
Marko Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 No way man. Hell, it's taken me 8 days car to car before to fail on the north side! Quote
Dru Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 none of these "records" are being supported with independent witnesses or GPS record! Quote
sir_vent Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 I was 3 hrs car to summit 1 hr on summit and 2.5 hours back. Took the cascadian. I can't imagine doing the complete N ridge in such a time but I guess if your good on the rock and dont bother with gear it could be done. Quote
beer_factor Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Please verify with a closeup mug shot and one of your altimeter for good measure... Quote
goatboy Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Upper North Ridge with Gendarme, car to car, about 19 hours I think...certainly not the fastest time....we were doing well until the Gendarme, but really slowed down there . . . . the slog down the Cascadian just about sucks, too . . . . it was October a few yrs ago, no snow . . . . Quote
kurthicks Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 That sounds about like our time this summer, except that we got stuck behind another party for almost an hour at the base of the gendarme...I think they were having lunch or something on the top of the pillar. Quote
