selkirk Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Ok, who got some rock this weekend? Went down to Smith and pulled tuff for 3 days. Never made the Climbers Carnival so I can't comment. But repeated a few easy routes for some newbies along for the trip. But managed to get in Lycopodaphyto (Very good), and Rabbit Stew (Less good), the arete above Karate Crack (now 5.8 as a few holds have busted off, but very well bolted unlike the description on the book) and capped it off with Moonshine. That is a great pitch! woohooo! Nothing like a 3 day weekend at Smiffy! Lets here the epics and the whippers! Quote
badvoodoo Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 I never made it to Smith, but I made damn sure I got a day in at the Columns in town, cause dammit, a 3 day weekend in Sept. with zero climbing is a crime. Quote
Off_White Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Well, I fear I was a criminal this weeekend, but I secured a tenant for my almost over endless remodel project in Portland, got blissfully hot and sweaty at a great Dead Moon show in PDX, caught up with lots of old friends at a couple social events, and gorged on amazing corn, ribs and salmon, so I don't count the holiday weekend a complete loss. iain Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 criminal too - ran the timberline trail. Quote
ashw_justin Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Yes yes, more sporto boltmonkey action at 32 this weekend. My climbing friends think I have a sport climbing problem... I think they're right... Quote
ivan Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 climbed dod's jam at beacon, then finished via dastardly (? not certain, i didn't have a guide book w/ me, but jim says that sounded right). this route rocks big time! the second pitch is offwidth but has pro in the back, the 3rd pitch was an easy aid climb for a wanker such as meself, and the 4th (dastardly, i think) was great fun. dryad Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Not me, unless you count climbing on some statues in front of the Asian Art Museum. I had friends visiting from back east so we were sightseeing around Seattle and hanging out at Bumbershoot. Hopefully I can make up for this lack of climbing next weekend. Anybody? Quote
Dru Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 does alpine rock count it was looking like a close thing on sunday though! Quote
cluck Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Spent the weekend climbing beautiful granite at Washington Pass. We only did the bumbly routes on Lib Bell and SEWS, but it was great fun anyway. Super crowded, but everyone was friendly and we shared beers with a few folks in the parking lot afterwards. Quote
catbirdseat Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 I only had time to climb on one day out of the three. I picked Saturday to climb Dreamer with Toast. Guess which day was the rainy one. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Knee is messed up, no climbing or much of anything else this w/e. Quote
rbw1966 Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Hey Cluck--what day did you do Liberty Bell? We were one party of somethign like 5 parties from Portland on the beckey route Sunday. Went there after spending a very wet and cold dayin Boston Basin Saturday. Finished the weekend off at Castle Rock. Quote

skykilo Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 (edited) All right Paul, yeah boyee!!! That's a helluva cherry on top of the Tooth and some fun on WaPass granite. I'm super-stoked... Rob, I'm pretty sure I shared some raps with your friends on SEWS. And Cluck, were you in the two parties of two from P-town on the Beckey Route? Did I offer you chips on the summit? hohm Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 We did the NE Ridge of Black Peak in the mist on Saturday....13 hours car-to-car, and we never did see the whole mountain....even got some snow on the summit. Awesome exposure, "interesting" rock quality.... Quote
