EWolfe Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Just watched "Spun" this weekend, with a feww cc.com'ers. What a wacked flick! Got thinking about other movies that are out there: Requiem For A Dream Naked Lunch Brazil Others? Quote
chelle Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Eating Raoul Diva Forgot the name of the movie...c. 1985, about a guy who spends the night wandering around the streets of NYC. Way whacked flick. Quote
rr666 Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Those are all great flics. Spun and Requiem for a Dream could almost be sequels. How fucked up do you want to go!! If you ever think about getting hooked on any of them heavy drugs, those movies just might keep you off. Quote

bunglehead Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Eight Crazy nights w/Adam Sandler. It's fucking hilarious, and totally random. Seriously, check it out. It's awesome. Quote

Off_White Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Sixty Million Dollar Man was completely brilliant, subtitled Hong Kong flick, more surreal than stereotypical Hong Kong action flick. I mean, who wouldn't want to have the power to transform into a giant tube of toothpaste? Quote

eternalX Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Spun was absolutely terrible. The plot points are just stupid. A total rip-off of Requiem for a Dream. Even Brittany looks bad. Saw Alien : The Director's Cut at Cinerama this weekend. and Raising Victor Vargas last night. another Quote

scott_harpell Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 if you really want weird, look at the Film Board of Canada. that shit will even scare some of you jaded and callous fuckers. Quote
Metalhead_Mojo Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Spun kicked ass, you must have been expecting a serious drama and missed the subtle comedy to not understand it and add to the list... Pi (by Darren Aronofsky, the same guy that did Requiem) Mulholland Drive (the best one so far from David Lynch) Killing Zoe (learn how not to rob the French national bank on a French national holiday while high on the finest French intoxicants) Quote
EWolfe Posted November 11, 2003 Author Posted November 11, 2003 Pi rocks, and that reminds me: The Cube is a Freakout! Quote
badvoodoo Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Nothing can touch Naked Lunch for pure weirdness for me, but another mindjuicer: Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas. Terry Gilliam just has a solid handle on the surreal. Quote
Blake Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 The oddest movie you can commonly rent is "Eraserhead" 1977 made by David Lynch. Quote
Dan_Harris Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 "Apocalypse Now" . . . That was bizarre. "When You Coming Home Red Rider" and "Johnny Got His Gun" both make you go Hmmmmm, wonder what I'd do? Quote
layton Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 David Lynches early works such as "The Alphabet" and "The Grandmother" Not so obscure but need to have a good grip on what is funnny: "Happiness" -one of my fav movies!!! "The Experiment" -amazing german movie "Vulgar" -not funny like the previews show. very disturbing "Meet the Feebles"-WTF? Necro has some good ones, maybe he'll share. Quote
EWolfe Posted November 11, 2003 Author Posted November 11, 2003 TeleTubbies, Mike? Thats way past Furries. Quote
sk Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Boxing Heleana... that movie was just yucky Quote
nonanon Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 I thought Requiem for a Dream and Spun borrowed a lot from Drugstore Cowboy, both technically and thematically. You could throw some Salton Sea in that soup too. The more movies I see the more I like Kill Bill. Quote

Dru Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 The 1,000 Fingers of Dr. T Dr Seuss designed all the sets and I think wrote part of the screenplay too..... Quote
scrambler Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Alejandro Jodorowsky El Topo also The Holy Mountain Jodorowsky's stuff is esoteric so might have to be supplimented by chemical means. Anything by John Waters. Liquid Sky...that was the one about the alien who comes to earth to feed off the brain chemicals elicited during sexual orgasm. Invocation of My Demon Brother, Kenneth Anger Mick Jagger did the soundtrack for this one. Some of these are like watching Eraserhead, a bit difficult to comprehend without some external interpretation Quote
