JGowans Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 I was in Olympia yesterday, and I always seem to remark to myself that it's a really nice wee town. Which begs the question, which is the best town / city in the Northwest? I suspect this'll degenerate into a "your town sux" thread but what the hell. Any opinions on Olympia? Quote
Paco Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Anacortes seems pretty cool to me. Mazama seems pretty cool too. Haven't really been to Oly, but I bet it sucks. Quote
erik Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 I LIKE OLY YOUNGER CROWD AND STILL A SMALL TOWN FEEL WITH SOME COSMO ATMOSPHERE. I USED TO WORK THERE AND NEVER COMPLAINED. I THINK MY FAV TOWN IS NOT A TOWN BUT AN AREA, BETWEEN WENTACHEE AND LEAVENWORTH. Quote
Winter Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Salem ... it has to be Salem. That's the coolest town by far except maybe for Gresham. Quote
vegetablebelay Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Concrete has a nice, quiet, country feel to it but it's nestled in the foothills of the N. Cascades. Combine that with a solid police presence. Quote
gapertimmy Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Burns, OR is pretty cool, especially if you are a 14 yo teenager that would like to begin a family. Quote
Fence_Sitter Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Gig Harbor... but i like sailing, so i gues i am biased... Quote
bunglehead Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Boring, Oregon. The name says it all. What does 12 year old a girl from Prineville say after she's done having sex? "You crushed my smokes, dad" Quote
rr666 Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 The Dalles, Oregon of course. It is far from being a trendy town like Hood River or Bend. It is still small and has some character, and is not too far away from climbing. Quote
leejams Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 I have thought of this before, just in case I won the lottery and would have to go with Chelan. Quote
vegetablebelay Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Winthrop has a great western feel and lots of friendly tourists! Quote
Stefan Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Chelan. Small, but not too small becuase it has all the amenities. It has a big lake to swim in. Sun is there for over 300 days a year. Warm too. Not too far from climbing opportunities also. And by the way, great fruit available too! Quote

I remember visiting bend 10-15 years ago before most of the golf courses moved in. It was a nice small town. I agree, it is still better than most, but it is far from being laid back Quote
gapertimmy Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 iz jest joshin ya dude, it is so very trendy Quote
sobo Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Ask TG what he thinks of Enterprise or Joseph. Now there's a nice view of some moun-taaanes. And there's good beer to be had there, too! Quote
Gordonb Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Oly is cool. We lived there for 6 years. It is a little skitzo because of the contrast between the legislators and the 'greeners. Very PC. Quote
