Dustin_B
An email a friend sent me: Plowing began today (March 17th) to re-open Highway 20 east of Ross Dam. You can monitor the progress (and see when they opened in past years) from this website. They have some neat aerial pictures of the avalanche chutes off Cutthroat and Liberty Bell/Early Winter Spires. See details here

JoshK
Hey, does anyone know what mile post wash. pass is at? Even though they might not have the highway open, if they plow a few miles in, you could save some time riding a bike up from the east side closure gate. I just wonder how far it would be. klenke
Wouldn't it be nice to know when they thought they'd FIRST open the road? Â That way, I can know when to line up for the ensuing stampede.

philfort
Interestingly, the snowdepth at Rainy pass is only a foot lower than when the plowers reach the pass last year (admittedly a week later), which was supposedly a "good snow year".... I hear a few mountains calling my name  BTW, has anybody done Frisco snowcovered? Did it this summer, but that ridge looks like it could be fun snow-covered...better than the loose as rock on the satelite peak to the west.... mattp
The basin on the NE side of Frisco is a very good ski bowl. In telelmark boots, I once found the last 200 feet to be more than I wanted to scramble without a rope or ice axe, but if you were up there planing to climb the thing I bet it wouldn't be very hard.
