  1. Damn, have to learn how to ski But that's on my list for this upcoming season... Many patrols have openings for "auxiliary" or similar type positions working in the first aid room, minimal skiing skills required.
  2. Doesn't Idaho have more Mormons per capita than Utah? (and utah has FUFMO: Free Utah From Mormon Oppression - a bumpersticker spotted in LCC). There's a lifetime of climbing in the Southwest, SLC hands down.
  3. Ski Patrols are always interested in people with medical experience. It's outdoors, and if your a Nordic Patroller, backcountry. www.nsp.org
  4. It's not for a tool, but Leki makes a shovel for their Lawisond ski poles still.

I remember thinking the same thing 4 years ago. I'm not so sure on Cheney now.

    Terminal Gravity

TG isn't bottled so your best chance is a public house - dunno where you'd head in Seatown.
  9. On an L-1011? Or a 757? Or a 767? Boeing isn't doing that well in commercial aerospace, Lockhead doesn't even compete anymore. They make their $ from defence contracting.
  10. 1999, Rochester, NY Drunken 50 year old man removes 200 political signs from median of roads in Rochester suburb. Local DJ raises $1k for bail for drunken man from listeners who agreed with his actions.
  11. Boeing and Lockheed are here to guzzle your tax dollars. Rutan correctly states that B & L couldn't do what he did with his budget.
  12. I thought the classic PDX bar game was shuffleboard - with those cool silicone beads!

    PDX bar scene

On the East Side: Spaceroom (mmm G & T's that taste like a Martini!) Bar of The Gods (BOG) On the West Side: Brazen Bean ($3 Martini happy hour) - also some place around the corner that's not bad on 21st (across the st from MuuMuu's)
  14. The only difference between PDX & MSP is a few mountains.
  15. BS. All of your complaints (trails, flakes, etc) fall under accelerated wear - and the only people who'd know about it are people who've accessed the area via a trail. Much of the public realizes a difference bewteen motorized & unmotorized recreation. Much of the public realizes the difference betwen damage inflicted by a commercial even of 400 people and 400 private parties dispersed over the course of months.
  16. Bolts are a permanent installation. Trails grow back (especially on the west side) - that's a fundamental difference, not hypocrisy.
  17. Polish hardmen do cows.

    Tax cut analysis

Naw, expecting history will repeat itself. The only questions is will it be soon enough to make a difference.
  19. Tour? Or Hike for turns?
  20. Try this one: http://www.wbskitraining.com/training/programs/dryland/
  21. The Enclosure is as warm as the Patagonia DAS and as bulky when packed. Nice jacket.
  22. Is there a "Friends of the Mountaineers Library"? A group that could be set up formally to collect money for projects such as this, and to ensure independant funding if the Mounties choose no longer to support the library.

    Tax cut analysis

People said the same thing when Reagan ran up the deficit... It seems like we paid the whole thing off, and it sure didn't hurt that much. Looking for lighting to strike twice are we?
