  1. That's all well and good(and I knew someone would nitpick) Getting down to brass tacks, VW TDI's weren't/aren't California (or any of the other CARB states) emissions compliant, so someone else thinks they pollute more. Buy a Honda Accord Wagon. Run's for ever, good fuel economy. Isn't as "climber" as a subaru though.
  2. Diesels always have higher particulates than gas engines. The Passat TDI is being rereleased. It ain't a cheap car anymore (friend's Passat wagon feels like an Audi) - bit to posh for a "climber's car". Most late model used VW TDI's carry a (too high) premium IMHO.

  4. Oh MY GO ROBBOB! YOUR RIGHT! I'm SHOCKED TO HEAR A HUNTER LIE WHEN TELLING A STORY!
  5. neither one would have time to run for president since they'be chasing warm dry rock and freshiez... and the country would be on hell of a lot better off.... cause you know what? Gore would have been president You do realize Gore IS a climber? He's climbed Rainier among other peaks.
  6. RobBob- Do a google search for "16-Point Buck" and the east coast state of your choice. I found them in MA, WV, NJ?! among others.... Of course like the President, you don't seem to let facts get in the way of a good story.
  7. "Manoogian hunts Worcester County, which traditionally is the No. 1 producer of trophy bucks in Massachusetts. In fact, according to the Northeast Big Buck Club, Worcester County has produced more record-book bucks than any other county in all of New England." http://www.newenglandgameandfish.com/ng_aa083404a/
  8. I could take the conservatism, but being a yankees fan
  9. A F'ed diferential will leave you in a world of hurt driving on snow.
  10. My point is a Betalight is more than big enough for 2 people plus winter camping gear. It's bigger than most standard 2 man tents. More size is just wasted space & weight. And if they're different sizes how do the use the same floor & betabug My guess is BD's data uses the size of the floor (about 4'*8') which is smaller than the tarp by 6" 8" on a side. MSR is just measuring the size of the tarp.
  11. The Betalight is too small? WTF? It's exactly the same size as the regular Betamid. Look at in a f'ing store before ranting. It sleeps 2 people way more than comfortably. Floor dimensions(from manu, as usual REI doesn't know WTF they are talking about.): Betalight 98 x 68 inches Twinpeaks 114 x 60 inches That's a whole 6" longer. But wait, it's 8" narrower.
  12. That's cuz the people who wanted to get places were driving minis
  13. I seem to be having difficulty with the snaffle porn section of the photo gallery. Jon, why don't you allow me the freedom of snaffle love?
  14. Welcome to the real world
  15. So we shop somewhere else. It's more likely they change their return policy and make themselves less competitive.
  16. I'm going to go with the Lazy Californian theory. As mountain ranges go the Sierras are extraordinarily user friendly. Easy open terrain, good visibilty on average, no brush. If you head in summer time you can comfortably travel with an extraordinarily light pack - more comfortably with less gear than in most any other mountain range.
  17. After losing the 2004 election, Bushco "cleaned up the neighborhood"
  18. Mine's held up fine to snow. Design wise it's not the tent I'd want for extended fresh snow only because it doesn't have a floor.
  19. Capadocia, a capital idea!
  20. And in case you were sleeping in the early 90's an estimated 500,000 people were slaughtered there.
  21. I've had no durability problems with my Betalight; I'm not sure what durability issues you'd be talking of, all of my tents have fallen apart at either at the floor or bugscreen, a Beta has neither.
  22. I thought it was north of Queen maud Land
  23. Excellent Idea!
