  1. If you have a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee I'm well within my rights to return the item because I want a bigger size, don't like the color, or I just want a new one. I may be abusing the spirit, but not the letter. If you don't like this nasty secret, change your stupid policy. And watch me never buy from you again. Because it is exactly this policy that makes up for the crappy service, bad pricing, stupid merchandising, and megalith stores. Returning something you didn't buy is theft. Chemical Physics - you didn't want to be a premed and weren't smart enough to be a Physicist?
  2. I'm really at a loss for words at this one.
  3. The PDX REI does, which is the only thing that sucks more than abusing a return policy. When a store knowingly resells used items as new. Especially when you returned that new item because it was missing parts. Like a bike fender w/o mounts. Or ski bindings w/o screws
  4. Is their anyway/need to donate used, but still serviceable clothing? I'm sure a number of us have longunderwear, fleece, gloves, etc that we already own and would be interested in donating (at least I do)
  5. If you want a thread without debate, post to some other F'ing board. Packing light- cold food tarp lightweight sleeping bag Skis- Dynafits Ski Crampons or boot crampons, not both poles - whippet to substitute for regular ice axe A real shovel, not the crappy ice axe shovel. If you ever want to dig anything (say a person) out in a reasonable time your up a creek.

  7. The Alpine Trail? I thought the treasure was closer to the Mazama's lodge.
  8. 77 years old that hole is.
  9. Is that a little envy from the Tacoma driving crowd? And it's German cars only.
  10. Speaking of that, why is that all of the Mt Hood areas have crappy online trail maps?
  11. Unless you have a car with headlight wipers
  12. They usually go by the name "hut" or "bivi"
  13. exactly. i fukin for the most part completely and stubbornly hate phones. i just want to lose a wireline and computer and carry one little phone for the times when i do want to make contact with others. and that is when i am in town. T-Mobile GSM coverage isn't that bad, it's what I've used for the past 2 years. A notebook with WiFi is way more useful IMHO, particularly if you get T-Mobile hotspot service - you can use at practically every starbucks, and we know how many of those are around.
  14. Browsing on cellphones sucks. And always will. So does inputing messages into cellphones unless you want to sound like a teenage girl. The smallest useful package is something like a Treo - combo PDA/phone.
  15. The Mucky Duck. A faux Irish bar in downtown Monterey best known for tap Jagermeister!
  16. Most of us were forced to say goodbye to that 10 years ago
  17. Apple has older gen iPods and refurbed units for sale on their website for not much more than the dell units (coworker has one - he bought an iPod afterwards). I haven't found a software package I like, yet. Haven't tried iTunes.

  22. Canister stoves are lighter, cheaper, faster, and take up less space. Less space lets you use a smaller pack. Betalight Lightweight Down Bags
