Bummer about the shoes. I've lost hiking shoes. In my case I think a snafflehound ran off with them due to the salt in them. Get your next pair with a self destruct device [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSd2HrtquMU&feature=related

I think if your house catches fire you should give the fire department your credit card number if you want the fire put out. There ya go, personal choice! Tell your neighbors to fuck off when their houses catch fire too. [img:center]http://imgs.sfgate.com/c/pictures/2008/12/08/mn-f18crash09_ph_0499541199.jpg[/img]

Umm the ferry is part of the highway system. If we're going to not fund the ferry we should be fair and quit funding all road maintenance. If you want snow plowing you can pay for it. Lets privatize our roads it'll be way more entertaining. Well entertaining to some that is. [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2Dn2hyN8cE&feature=related

If we tax the rich they might not have the money needed to remodel their second homes. "We love this house, but it's really cramped space for our family." [img:center]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d2/Salinas_mcMansion.jpg/800px-Salinas_mcMansion.jpg[/img]

ANZI Z133.1 Standards for Arboricultural Operations require arborists to be secured while ascending a tree and working. Statistically it is the 5th most dangerous professions in the US. The tower climber does have a rope. Weaving it through rungs and attached to weight or a partner may be acceptable by tower climber standards since it does provide lead climbing protection. I don't know this profession; maybe he is breaking all kinds of standards.
-
In the video he does mention his partner below is helping with the tool kit. That may be how they compensate for the associated risks. Running a rope attached to his harness around rebar rungs with a weighted tool kit could be like lead climbing or simul climbing. That is just a guess though

I was already for I-1098. Now I really like it!

Constant rants about how much the Mariners suck is a better way to annoy PP. At least it can result in better quality Spray.

Special Use Fees Increased - Denali and Rainier
AlpineK replied to ScaredSilly's topic in Climber's Board
seem to recall they'll start by not giving you your gas at the landing strip, if'n you're landing on the kahiltna I'm pretty sure the companies providing air service into Denali want to continue providing flights and thus making money. The NPS provides the permits the air service needs to operate, and can revoke permits. Air companies are not going to risk loosing their permit. Now if you walked all the way in you might be able to get away with it. Then again maybe not. -

The catwalk pitch on das tooth was my first ever rock climbing lead BTW If you need dry rock for an alpine climb to be, "in," then you might be out of luck this weekend.

Typical Elevation to get above Clouds on Rainier
AlpineK replied to Adam Watts's topic in Mount Rainier NP
The park service has compass coordinates for the Muir Snowfield available online. Get em and practice siting off your buddy 50 feet away then leapfrogging. -
Lots of moderate climbs are still, "in," for tough guys/chicks. If you're not one of those then there are fewer, "in," climbs. So which are you?

How you use words (context, intent) is a lot more important than the words themselves.
-
Old school conservatives really meant small in the way an accountant could understand and agree with. Modern conservatives say the words, "Small Government*," with an asterick. * Small except when we go into debt and give our money to Halliburton, or other worthy corporations. We will tell you who is worthy when we decide which country to declare war on next.

The ones in Froodish's pictures are taller than the ones I have. I've got 3 that are about 2' x 1'. One I want to keep, but the others 2? I do have one bigger one (2.5' x 1.5') available.

Mine are worth the $. They've already been to Asia and back so they're expedition tested.
