[TR] Mt Washington - Chimney of Space into West Ridge 7/20/2008

Adventure climbing at its mankiest! Good job. -
I put a hole in my Bibler when the pole slipped in my hand and shot through the bottom. This was 3 days before leaving for Denali. I fedexed it to them and had it back in time for my trip--all I paid for was shipping. Call them.

"Those who most frequently quote without permission the thoughts of others have few of their own." Discuss. so you are saying don would be upset if a work of his were to be quoted here? you must admit that the irony inherent in this quote coming from don (is this from don?) is hilarious! What's hilarious is your concept of irony, together with Bill Coe's logic. Rather than offering the strongest objections to sport "climbing", my friend Dwayner offers the strongest recommendations for a clean climbing ethic. Also, to suggest that he believes there exists only one way of thinking (his own) ignores the fact that he has never suggested that clean climbing is his own ethic or ideal. He has frequently cited the inspiration for and the development of his support of clean climbing. Finally, it doesn't matter whether I believe he would be upset about the quoted material. Fact is, the statement wasn't quoted with permission. It was clearly an amateur logician's childish attempt to display a contradiction. The final word may very well be that Bill (together with everybody else who thinks he is clever, including the moron to whom I am responding) is really stupid. Did you ask Sexual Chocolate for permission to quote him?

I've had the same problems with my Dynafits. The toe pops but the heel is still locked in. Even with the toe lever popped up ALL the way its released at the toe. It was snow built up in the toe sockets on my boot. Cleaned it out and it was fine. I also forgot to adjust the DIN settings after having the bindings mounted which made the heels release in times when I really didn't want them too. I have leashes AND brakes (the newer Vertical TLT with the yellow-ish mounting plate). Frankly, I think the brakes suck ass. I spent 30 minutes looking for a ski at Ski Bowl after a toe release because I was too lazy to put on my leashes. I dont make that mistake anymore. Disclosure: this is my first season on Dynafits.

Perhaps you should think more, post less.

Sorry you are willing to give up your civil liberties Scott, the rest of us aren't. When one enlists in the military its a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice to make disparaging or defamatory comments about ones superior officers--including the commander in chief (POTUS). While you may see it as "giving up civil liberties" others see it as something a bit more noble, like sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Thank you for your service Scott. I may not agree with your perspective but I respect it.

Someone should kick your face in. I absolutely agree with this one.

I believe "douchebag" does not have a hyphen. Carry on.

Try getting homeowners insurance if you own a pit. -
If you stay high above MHM you will have to do a little drop into White River Canyon and then back up again onto the Palmer but its pretty casual. The only "challenging" part I found of the whole circumnav was the icey traverse on the Coe over to Eliot (more a factor of timing than terrain). We dropped down onto the Eliot and then skinned back up Cooper Spur before traversing the Newton onto Wy'east. If you are a competent skier this is not hard and should not even take a full day. We left Tline at 6 a.m. and were back at the car by 3 p.m., including safety and food breaks.

Where did you work? That might have some impact on your personal experience. A large proportion of emergency calls in PDX involve heroin and meth overdoses, not to mention injuries inflicted while under the influence of one or more of the substances you listed above. Even with the "tougher" DUI enforcement of late, I think we are too soft. There are far too many people driving around on the road with multiple DUI offenses.

Thanks....I get that alot. In your mouth or your ass?

My company lets me take all the time off I want unpaid; paid I get 3 weeks and I usually take all three in one lump. Taking a day here, a day there just doesn't get you out of the work "head space". A large block of time is what you need to shake off the shackles. In the 7 years I have been with my current employer I have taken at least a month off every year. When I am in the office I am working like a dog though--its that light of vacation at the end of the tunnel that keeps me going. I do enjoy my work though. You need a goal.

Craigslist. I've bought and sold a few bikes that way so far. If you dont see what you want do a "WTB" ad. I did that and within 72 hours had the bike I wanted at the price I was willing to spend.

[TR] Smith Rocks Monkey Face - West Face Aid Route 4/27/2008
rbw1966 replied to gt5816v's topic in Oregon Cascades
If this is the spot I am thinking of you can get past it with a hook. I've climbed this route twice and used a hook both times--no free climbing -
Makes you think twice about using your teeth when pulling up slack to make a clip though.

Can you say "Vince Foster"?

What did you need a stick clip for? -
Kiss off. jarred. What gives a third-party concessionaire the right to extort money from monument visitors? They sure as hell don't do anything in regard to a climbing program that I can see. If I see one of these enviro-pricks asking to see my permit I'll just keep right on going. Is the mountain still patrolled by the Forest Service?

so you're saying that you've been bribed. nice! Damn--busted.
