hey, don't make fun of my tele boots!!
  2. and when you run out of beer, the Rynolds "COLD BEER AND WINE STORE" is open 'till 11. They have more than just beer n' wine too.
  3. pictures of Lizard head: http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/6260/trip_reports/lizard_head.html
  4. I wonder if this includes the parking lot by the trailhead for the summer trail. Wouldn't the access to that be granted by having a trail park pass? So we can use the land, but we can't park on their property. Wouldn't we still need to 'tresspass' on thier property (road, lots, etc) though? Have you noticed that the condo owners, sahale ski area, etc have pretty much banned down valley parking? Maybe they should setup a guard shack at the entrance to the valley to keep po' folk (those without at least a '99 Escalade) out. I can understand them not wanting people to park in their upper lot, but I though the lower one was "shared"... whatever that means.
  5. Dustin- The gate totally depends on the conditions, other factors, etc. 9:45 is pretty late.. I think it usually opens up around 8:30-9 in the morning.
  6. Chains were required on Sunday, and there was black ice and snow-ice on a lot of the road. Gate at Longmire opened ~9:45am. Great skiing up there though!
  7. I'd be so much bolder if I could only buy a Rock Climbing Nut Sack. Oh wait, I can!
  8. tried once, here's a pic Phil took, hand held digitally. couldn't help but get our butts out of the tent in the middle of the night when that moon came out. night skiing
  9. So Allison, was it real grown-up life when you sent an editing bill for thid editing you didn't complete? But back on topic, Timmy's show was hilarious! Plus, I'm now bearing his illegitimate child.
  10. This is what BD calls an "alaska" pick: I believe you're talking about the standard curve picks, simmilar to a mountaineering axe? Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the pick attatchment on the blue fiberglass model is different from the current BD tongue and groove shown in the picture above, right?
  11. feel the burn
  12. if anyone has an extra ticket, I'd be happy to buy it!
  13. Fuck. Ben was the most humble and downright nicest guy I've ever met. At the same time he was incredibly bold, and his drive and enthusiasm touched and inspired everyone he met. I know words can't describe the sorrow what his family and friends must feel right now, and my condolences to them. -Dave
  14. I have the Barryovox one sold by Mammut (as opposed to Burton). I like it a lot, though I haven't used it a ton. It is smaller and lighter than any other beacon, and its mixed digital and analog modes are very cool. For example, you can have digital induction line tracking (with arrows and distance, etc), while having an analog beep going. It also has good range w/ the analog part. Nice harness system too.
  15. I think they did an AMAZING job on the guide. We're pretty lucky that there's more than just a rough description of how to get to each climb, with all those routes. I'm also impressed that closed and historical routes were included, at least so we don't have to wonder. Nice job guys, that was fast.
  16. cascadeclimber would probably have more input, but when I've used them (on waterfall) I have felt the shaft flex. I'm guessing this is because of the smooth and large curve of the clearance + the aluminum. It didn't interfere w/ climbing though, and that integrated android is pretty slick (though you can't reach the top of the tool w/ it on). Ditto on the vibration compared to the CF stuff, but hey, what do ya expect
  17. Thanks again to Jon, and to all who showed slides. Good to finally meet a lot of familiar avatars too. That
  18. but it's all about the outliers baby!
  19. well, as much as I'd also like my name to be Brodeck AND place in both divisions, alas I can't take credit for the infamous Tony Brodeck's exploits. can't wait to see the video
  20. Well, as much as I'd like my last name to be Purdich... it's actually Burdick. Thanks to cascade crags for putting this one on. Good fun
  21. I guess it was so good that they all decided to post twice!
  22. I heard that the Clear Creek road (to darrington's climbing) had 3 washouts, but that they were actively being filled by the State as of last Friday. It sounded like 2 had been filled by then, so maybe it's all back in shape by now??
