What would Makalu Gow's friends be calling him; Lobster Boy? For those that watched it, what'd ya think? Kind of a waste of production money in my opinion. I would think that David Breashears would have something more interesting and relevant to put on film.

If anyone is interested in following the local guy who is up there blogging for PBS, his blog can be found at www.landtarget.blogspot.com

Support The Troops: Hi I'm Karl Rove. We invaded Iraq on a bunch of lies and we've been caught. You now need to focus your attention on your (not mine or any of my buddies) sons and daughters over there trying to spread our version of freedom and not pay attention to the illegal war. If you don't, you are unpatriotic (not blindly buying into what our government says). They need to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them. Since we can't properly resource them and all.

Was it chop, bolts, or chop bolts that got this hate fest going?

[TR] Mt Rainier - Fuhrer Thumb + Survival 5/6/2008
Doug replied to Amar_Andalkar's topic in Mount Rainier NP
Wow, what an experience. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. Hopefully your mis-fortune will be a lesson we all heed. Most of all, I'm glad you both made it back safe! -
Actually, I suspect you and Ivan climb in shitty weather to increase your chances of a "bivouac moment".

Tiger mt, west tiger 2 trail last October. We were on the trail and could see some rustling brush. We stopped and watched for a few minutes and you could see paw pop up occasionally to bat berrys off of the bush.

So when is cascadewatersports big freakin' dot com going to be launched? I am planning on taking my daughter kayaking on lake washington this summer. There's a place right where the cedar river dumps into the lake that rents them. Renton also has a sailing club where you can check out a boat for little or no cost. I grew up sailing and vowed to take it up again by the time I hit the big 5 - 0.

I had an opportunity to see the new structure they'll be putting in. Quite nice! It has cracks, chockstones, chimney's and a nice texture to it. Besides the climbing wall, there'll also be a boulder field (being put in right now).

bouncing co-eds do make for some pretty good inspiration; until they get out of sight and remind me of what an old geezer I am.....

I use being able to climb Rainier as a conditioning benchmark. My program as it is has me running 3 days a week, a total somewhere between 15 - 20 miles. Three days as week I hit the gym and work leg muscles and a moderate upper body workout. on two of the gym days I'll do 45 minutes on the elliptical or stairmaster. If I'm training for a specific climb I take make sure I get out on a hike of 3000'+ with a moderate (25 - 30lb) load once a week. One of the previous responders said that the goal is to be able to do 9000' in two days at altitude with a load and not feel like jelly. What I just described is what gets me there. Whatever gets you to that point is what works for you. Sounds like you are well on your way! Good luck!

Matt, the way I see it each candidate has been in leadership or figurehead situations for many years. They normally don't get to where they are without that. Sure, they all get boosts from the party they align themselves with, I just like to see how they've handled it once they got there. Some would argue that Hilary got to where she is on Bill's coat tails; Obama has seemed to ascend on his terms, as has McCain. The current idiot in chief has been placed in positions of power mainly due to family connections. Even that isn't necessarily a bad thing; so long as the person doesn't royally fuck up.

WTF? My comments aren't specific to any candidate. It appears that Matt suggested that a candidate did not have to have shown any past success at leadership. I'm asking if that was a serious statement. One of the criteria for any candidate getting my support is a proven record of leadership.
