  1. I'm hoping for the best for these two parties and hope they make it back safely. That said, once the parties make it back they deserve to be chastised for the poor judgement in heading onto the mountain with a storm being predicted. Such poor decision making has put rescuers at risk and provides ammunition for those that would seek to enforce heavy handed regulations on climbers (such as requirement to carry PLB's, etc.)
  2. Ironic thing is neither are the teabagger ultra-conservatives. But if the private organization's goal was to spread abstinence most would support it, since the're all for "faith and family"
  3. That's probably a good thing. Last time Oly found a good local trim carpenter he couldn't walk straight for 2 weeks.
  4. The good doctor's first time out and its some sketch mixed possible FA. Classic.
  5. Apparently solo glissading with crampons on isn't so pure though.
  6. Its unfortunate how we train our soldiers to be damn fine killers and desensitize them to death and put them in a warzone with the constant threat of being killed but expect then be able to flip a switch and act like Mr. Rogers in other contexts. Of course taking pictures of the Taliban-pissers was just plain dumb.
  7. That's what I would have written on my solo application.
  8. Wow. Almost like Touching The Void, except you stopped and had a beer on the way.
  9. Do internet waves penetrate crevasses so I can post on Facebook while I'm waiting to die?
  10. Coincidence. I'm reading Fall's "The French Debacle in Indochina." The poor French can't cut a break. Haven't won a war in years.

    And they wouldn't be smiling.
  12. Is that some sort of code talk for you soliciting man-on-man sex?
  13. I'm guessing by "soldiers" he meant followers of Christianity, not "soldiers" in the military sense. Not the most coherent sentence ever though. At any rate, I've always wondered how rational and intelligent people can believe in the fairy tale that is organized religion. Whether or not a "God" exists, how can normal, educated people think God created the world 5000 years ago in seven days and that Noah put all the world's animals on a boat and all that shit. I'm seriously confounded.
  14. Trip: Nicaragua Date: Dec 2011 Trip Report: Took a short but good trip down south last December. I posted a report on my friend Sky's website: http://www.skisickness.com/post/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=324 Sorry for the link to another website, but no sense in cross-posting. Gear Notes: Rum
  15. Not very christian of the Christians.
  16. You don't really need a tent on Rainier in the summer if there's a good forecast.
  17. True. Everything should be observed in moderation. Including moderation.
  18. You crazy fuckers should be skiing!
  19. Sick Ken. Badass.
  20. True, but I think you'd be OK on a solo training hike or two up to Muir.
  21. That's why you have to hide your beer real well when you go to Canadaland.
  22. You could just go to Rainier and follow the mass of humanity up.
  23. Admit it, though. You'd drink a cold beer stashed in the creek after a long day of climbing in the sun.
  24. Jesus, John. Next thing you're going to be telling me that masturbation is bad for you too.
