  1. I believe its the Atomic Charter and the Voile Charger. The next ski up from Atomic is the Blog or the Atlas which are probably a bit heavier than what you are looking for. The Voile's have historically been pretty stiff but that might have changed this year. Same with Atomics b/c they used an acrylic core which made them light and snappy but I think they've gone to wood.
  2. How fat are you considering and how much do you want to spend? Lots of good feedback on the DPS 112, not super light unless you get the carbon and you'll have to throw down a grand for that. Coomback gets solid feedback as a soft snow ski. I'd also check out the Atomic Charter which fits the things your looking for at 98 underfoot. Atomic Hi-5 and Dynafit Stoke are worth checking out in the ultra-light category. I think the Stoke is stiffer. Also lots of great boutique skis such as the Praxis Backcountry.
  3. Yeah but I've only got about 5 days on it, never once in avalanche terrain.
  4. Sheeeit. I've got 100 days b/c days in this month.
  5. And good luck! Sounds like a cool job.
  6. I think there's a good chance it could be with the Director of Paramedicine at the hospital or someone in a higher up position; comparable to the "Chief's Interview" in a firefighter hiring process. It might just be a meet-and-great where the interviewer is going to affirm or disaffirm the panel's candidate ranking. Or it could be a situation where the interviewer is looking to narrow down the pool for a final hiring decision. At any rate, I'd wear a suit unless you hear specifically otherwise.
  7. Funny. Never see packs made with the outside shovel pocket anymore.
  8. The mythical Illinois bigwall?
  9. Powder skiing.

Everyday training to be best in Washington dayhiker!
  11. Is this a civil service exam for a public safety position?
  12. Did you find out who this next interview will be with?
  13. I'm hoping for the best for these two parties and hope they make it back safely. That said, once the parties make it back they deserve to be chastised for the poor judgement in heading onto the mountain with a storm being predicted. Such poor decision making has put rescuers at risk and provides ammunition for those that would seek to enforce heavy handed regulations on climbers (such as requirement to carry PLB's, etc.)
  14. Ironic thing is neither are the teabagger ultra-conservatives. But if the private organization's goal was to spread abstinence most would support it, since the're all for "faith and family"
  15. That's probably a good thing. Last time Oly found a good local trim carpenter he couldn't walk straight for 2 weeks.
  16. The good doctor's first time out and its some sketch mixed possible FA. Classic.
  17. Apparently solo glissading with crampons on isn't so pure though.
  18. Its unfortunate how we train our soldiers to be damn fine killers and desensitize them to death and put them in a warzone with the constant threat of being killed but expect then be able to flip a switch and act like Mr. Rogers in other contexts. Of course taking pictures of the Taliban-pissers was just plain dumb.
  19. That's what I would have written on my solo application.
  20. Wow. Almost like Touching The Void, except you stopped and had a beer on the way.
  21. Do internet waves penetrate crevasses so I can post on Facebook while I'm waiting to die?
  22. Coincidence. I'm reading Fall's "The French Debacle in Indochina." The poor French can't cut a break. Haven't won a war in years.

    And they wouldn't be smiling.
  24. Is that some sort of code talk for you soliciting man-on-man sex?
