You can commute from Wenatchee. No problem.
-
Maybe. But you should have known what I meant. Its your fault, really.
-
You're such a hip metro sophisticate.
-
My bad. I meant Fall City, not Granite Falls. That would definitly be too far.
-
And though Pat can be a complete dickface, I'd agree with him on this.
-
Furthermore, the political affiliations of the eastside tend to run right of Communist, so therefore, completely off Pat's approved neighrhood list.
-
Also, I don't know if you have your jobs locked in at Harborview; but if your still shopping around you may want to look at working on the eastside. Bellevue and Kirkland have a fairly large hospital system (Evergreen in Kirkland, Overlake and Group Health in Bellevue)which would offer a better commute for you. As far as quality of life, I think Missoula has Seattle beat hands down, but obviously greater career opportunities here.

Hey Duckfeet, I'm a former Missoula-ite. Now I live east of the Cascades, but I've logged a lot of time in Seattle. The Issaquah, North Bend, Granite Falls area is probably your best bet for non-urban living within commutable range. I don't think the commute would be to bad, especially if you work some what off hours. You'll be spending some time in traffic but I-90 generally moves along pretty well. Though, things might be getting worse with the 520 bridge toll. Someone here who does the commute daily may be able to offer better input. I'd like to say that the Seattle area offer some of the same feel or appeal of Missoula, but it really doesn't. That said, there's a whole new range of mountains for you to explore, there's a great outdoor community here, and Harborview should be a pretty exciting place to work! Good luck!

When I show up at your house, hang out with your dog, try on your wife's underwear, and drink your beer, then I'll be stalking you.

"The banning door?" That doesn't even make any sense.

Supper with a side of lithium maybe.

Nihilists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

I agree with the basic premise of this proposal. I don't know all the details. This commentator talks about punishing people for crimes they haven't already committed. In WWII we didn't send back German prisoners before the end of the war for fear they would get back to the military and continue to fight against us. Essentialy, because they might "commit a crime" in the future. I don't see much difference here.

That is bullshit though. Anyone in America, U.S. citizen or not, gets due process and detention and accusations should be held to a stricter standard.
-
No because a uniformed enemy combatants is just that.....uniformed. It is clear who they are fighting for. Were under the USA version is you just have to have brown skin. Who the hell decides who is a terrorist and who is not? So our enemies can avoid detention simply by "playing dirty," i.e. not wearing a uniform and being a terrorist? Who decides who is and isn't a terrorist? Not an easy job, but at least this proposal by Obama allows for judicial oversight, which, for me, at least passes a basic test of fairness.
-
Doesn't this apply to people outside the U.S. where due process doesn't come into play? Shouldn't foreign terrorists captured on foreign soil be the equivalent of uniformed enemy combatants? Will there not be judicial review of each matter?

Weekend Rainier Death - Anyone Have More Details?
Pete_H replied to BreezyD's topic in Climber's Board
Not to belabor the point, but read the article again. It says he was taken out Tuesday morning by chopper to Madigan where a doctor said he had been dead for more than 24 hours. Whether the ground team got to him Monday night or Tuesday morning, he was still alive, and therefore could not have been dead for 24 hours when he got to the hospital - according to the article. At any rate, its very tragic and MNRP rescue personnel did all they could to save the victim. -
Passive pro is great for anchors. That way you can save the cams for the leader. You'll get more adept and quicker at placing passive pro over time. I'd definitly recommend getting ascenders instead of using prussiks!

OK my bad. I guess. The article contradicts itself though saying he'd been dead for 24 hours by the time the chopper took him out Tuesday. If he wasn't dead when the ground team found him, which was probably on Monday (not Tuesday as the article says) I would imagine they provided him with shelter and warmth over the night until the choppe pulled him out. -

Bill how did you not understand that the guy was dead long before the helicopter even spotted him? I spose they could have dropped all that shit you're talking about but its not going to do much good for a cold corpse. -
Nice job kids!! Looks awesome. Not to be a rug pisser, but in my limited experience, the R grade seems to be redundant for winter climbs in the Cascades.

Sounds like it would be uncomfortable and a pain in the ass. I always bring the rope in coiled and use it as a pillow.

Smithbrook would fit the bill but may be some snowmo activity. Chiwakum Cr probably OK but might have some coverage issues. If you want to drive the few miles to the end of the road, White Pine would be perfect.
