  1. yada, yada, yada... ssdd.
  2. Kenny, 'rebolting' lacks the 'tro' that would redefine it as 'retrobolting'. The difference between the two could only be considered subtle under some pretty special circumstances. perhaps, but only in a special understanding of it all. you did "re(tro)bolt" YW, though, against the wishes of the first ascentionist, too, i might add... (Jim said you never asked if he minded that you did that, but you said that you had talked with him about it and he told you it was ok). several of the bolts have moved (ive seen where you patched the old holes - you'd have to be blind to not see them) and i'm not sure what effect this has on the route but i'm sure that when/if jim climbs it this year he will have plenty to say on how it is all f**ked up now.
  3. but YWs is an exception, huh, dude?
  4. ha ha, ivan told me all bout that - i couldn't stop laughing, 'specially when he got to the part about you guys turning around and having to go back thru US customs w/ dawgs everywhere n shit...
  5. Hey, the loose rock load just above Grassy Ledges up to the short chimney had built up to a ridiculous level and sending grapefruit size rocks down to the SE Corner's base. Could have been cleaned out or stacked earlier during the pre-open work session the reason it didn't get cleaned is because that little dam stops the crap from coming down constantly. now that you have done us such a great service and pushed it down we can look forward to having more crap coming down on snag ledge and the traverse across to the slab. thank you so so so much joe. so if the grapefruit-sized rocks were coming down around the se corner base you must have been there to see a bunch of them coming down then, yes? i still got yer radios, btw...
  6. beacon litteraly is a mountain - or what was left of one - so it is part of the cascades. if you reference jeff thomas's oregon rock then you'll know that the best rock climbing in portland is at beacon (even if beacon is on the WA side of the gorge)
  7. thank god its safe now we can go climb!
  8. i hear ya guys, both - good arguments and well thought out statements... i won't argue. but it isn't about ethic as much as it is leaving it alone until it needs to be swapped out for something newer-looking... chaser that is by far the coolest avatar pic you've had yet! definitely the tripiest
  9. the webbing is stronger than the rope... replace it when it really needs to be replaced. just because it's faded doesn't mean that it's in need of replacement... JH makes a good point though - if some weathered, faded, and slightly worn webbing makes you feel that you need to replace the slings then you proly don't spend enough time outside. SUSPECT? HOW SO? the sling on that anchor at the top of pitch two was perfectly safe! i saw it yesterday and i almost fell off the rock in amazement that someone thought that they needed to replace it... a real waste of good webbing that would have been better used elsewhere, imo.
  10. for some reason i find this hard to believe, but if it is the truth why don't we start with that recockulous anchor on the first pitch of warriors? that one really needs to go... feeling better these days, joe? i still got those radios and batteries for you...
  11. i love the view of the UTW from up there...
  12. well ivan is 6'7" so i guess he would have to be one of the biggest sprayers here, kev, but you know what i think? i think this is just a thread created to divert attention away from your spraying prowess
  13. Dr. Jones?!? Dr. Jones?!?
  14. gosh, mito, wtf are ya gonna do in august when the snow is gone from the hills? i got an idea for ya... once again the three sister's wilderness decided to provide your camera with some excellent views good on ya!
  15. yer ballz feel up to the challenge?
  16. ahhh... ok. thanks, dane! i'd always wondered about that!
  17. sweet! page 29!!!
  18. geoff? bryan? i'm sure they both would love to take this case
  19. fair enough, dane, but its still one man throwing another man to the ground - with funny (yet probably traditional) pants on... never did get the funny pants... yet another thing i don't understand about it. care to enlighten me?
  20. manbearpig?!?
  21. maybe that's it... still, not interested in watching two people beat each other until one submits - hence why i think it is boring.
  22. st helens is a really good one too... although it is pretty much absent of glaciers now since the trail to the rim doesn't really go on the remnants of the swift.
  23. i figured that some more nice warm pics of granite would be appropriate at this time
