respectfully disagree, OW, though not because i want to piss you off. -
hopefully when she IS a ropegun she will still like and know who i am, so when 5.20 is established and she is flashing it she will be willing to drag my old ass up the fun stuff, too

so i guess the nose in a day didn't happen with you two... -
go get some strange ass! 8D happy birthday, kid!

bullshit! go to ozone and see how many are wearing helmets and then tell me that it isn't about "cool." i love my helmet and wear it every time i climb, but i know that it doesn't in any way fall into the "cool" category. if helmets were cool then everyone would wear one! and if it is going to be that hot out that a helmet might make me overheat, then i'll drink a little more water and suffer til i make it to the ground.

its nice out here today... next tuesday it should be dry enough to climb. -
you poor, poor soul... you must follow leaders and ignore marking meters. yeah, i'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on that. the hardcore following is pretty strong and those who really love his works will read and re-read them. thompson had a special way of communicating to his readers through the gonzo lens and it is quite amazing that he was able to see that we (as a country) are experiencing much the same in this time as was being experienced 40 years ago. he was spot on with his analysis of the 9/11 thing and how the war that followed was going to yield no winner but many, many casualties. hopefully i still have more than 20 years... i'd hate to miss what happens next

oh, ok... so we're cool, right? good climb yesterday? -
fawk, that was funny! wish i would have caught that one in 03

absofrigginlutly - one is stupid - let me say that again, STUPID - for not protecting oneself in the easiest way. accidents happen even at sport crags, and gravity works everywhere, so rockfall is always a concern. of course, the helmet won't make one look as cool as they could look when shooting for those magazine cover shots

who are you trying to piss off then, joe? or are you trying to piss on someone? -
Finally just decided to go check it out. Thought it was ghastly awkward, much more difficult, and not particularly pleasant. And I've always thought the gear on the slab was completely obvious; exposure is more what I would assume makes folks want to take to the corner vs. the slab. plus, joseph is not a crack climber so he naturally shies away from them. that corner is wonderfully comfortable to layback and then undercling as you traverse to the right... its not awkward - for me, anyway.
-
only if you want me to kick yer sorry colorado ass next time i see you
-
you really think its a grade harder? maybe for a move, but it certainly doesn't last that long...
-
what are you saying, whiteboy? the gear on the slab is just as easy to find/use as it is in the crack... the crack just makes the pitch more fun [for me] instead of a walk up another slab. the slab feels more difficult to me, but i just like cracks.

it was a cam i got at climbmax about 5yrs ago but it wasn't a bd. but, yes, the one that was welded into the crack. joseph cut the one out before mine so i was almost wondering if he did the same to mine. my cam was the third one stuck in the same location, on that pitch, in 5 or so years...

on that note, don't stop on the trail directly underneath shiprock, either... that scary thing seems to shed every time i'm over there! -
lash, you forgot to mention the 18 year old punk that got out of control on friday night!
-
so i'm not really wanting the thing back but i am just curious if anyone knows who got my stinkin cam out of the crack on the second pitch of the corner... anyone? anyone? i'd more or less like to congratulate the soul that got done what i failed to do for two f-ing years and hear the story of its extraction.
-
can i aid it?

its hard to admit anything when one's head is up one's ass all the time!
