I've got the NW Alpine pants, they already have the grommet in the ankle so are ready to roll. I've been using them as ski pants, and the only negative I've had is when the ankle is unsnapped for a while the snap packs full of snow and I have to spend about 2 seconds picking it out. Ohh the bother. They defiantly have a tighter fit, which I like. Doesn't look as steezy for skiing, but fuck it. Bill with NW Alpine was super helpful in getting them shipped to me and I've had some of the best customer service ever from NW Alpine.

When I went up two years ago there were only two significant stretches on the Cassiar that were gravel. Both were maybe 10-20 miles max. Be sure to drive on the top half of your tank, but there were enough open places to make that easy. Howerver I was up there in June and July. I've heard good things about the Liard Hot Springs if you take the other root. I'd imagine things go tits up pretty quick on the Cassiar if the weather hits, and I would also imagine that the Alcan is a better mantained winter road, but that is a lot of supposition on my part. Have a blast and let us know about the drive. It is a beautiful one.

I was XC skiing around Trillium Lake yesterday and there looked to be some sort of ice line that was running about all the way down Mississippi Head. I've been away from the area for a while, and am sure that it is complete garbage with all the sun and rain now, but does that show regularly and has it been climbed? Just ideal curiosity from a crappy climber, sorry if I blew your secret project on the internetz.

I was at a talk by John Reedle(NCNP Head Geologist) and he suggested that the East side of Ross Lake had been primo habitat, but much of it was lost with the creation of the lake. I don't remember much more than that, and have no source, but thought that was a possible reason.

I gave them a call today and am going to go in and get my liners done on Monday. letsroll do you have any specific questions you want me to ask about what work they will do on your shell?
-
Do you happen to remember costs? IE what heatmolding boot liners would run? Thanks for the advice, I will try to check them out tomorrow.
-
What was your time getting to Ridgway? Ames looks a lot better than when I caught a glimpse of it a couple of weeks ago, with a heckuva lot more snow around it.
-
Why sling the boot after crampons are on? I'm having trouble visualizing.

I had a roommate who had an entire wall covered in a wallpaper image of Shuksan, pretty damn cool.

I will be headed over there for work the week after next, leaving Monday and coming back Thursday or Friday. I could give it a try, but I am from Bellingham, and we will be coming back via Highway 20. I'm going to be away from internet till next weekend, but if nothing pans out I could bring them to Bellingham at least. John

Terminal Gravity Brewery is in Enterprise if you end up looking for somewhere to eat. Never been there, but the beer is damn good.

PM'd for the puffy.

Haha. What a great trip report. Sounds like a great trip.

Look like awesome photos. My monitor is pretty FUBARed so my resolution is awful, but in the summit porn shot which way are you looking? I can vaguely see that there is a break in the mountains then they start up again? River drainage? Looks like it was a great trip, I hiked into Five Mile Island over break for a day, I could see how it got pretty mindnumbing.

Nice read, sounds like a hell of a good time. Thanks.

That's ascent # what for the Slovak. Really impressive to read about. Pretty intimidating to climb it or die basically.

If you can search for Bellingham Evening Top Ropers on Facebook. Its a bunch of Bellingham climbers that gathered from a thread like this. I will be off weekends this summer, and will have sporadic email, so send me something via PM if you need a partner and chances are I can swing it.

I had a leak in an older Trail something Thermarest, and the repair kit I used involved heating a pot and using it as an iron in order to get the glue to soak in better. Did you try that with the repair?

Found a raincoat on 6/25 at the junction of Moffet Creek Trail and Horsetail Creek Trail. Let me know if you lost one around there.
-
Exactly, there are so many of the fuckers around here you'd think they would make it onto Craigslist more.

I'm looking to join the hordes of Subarus with rocketboxes. I am going to be doing field work for most of the summer, so am going to be living out of my car on days when I am not in the field. Anyone have any opinions of the cheapest Yakima box. 11 cubic feet good enough? I'm in a hurry to get it so I can start covering it with stickers of places I've never been, so stickers would be appreciated too. Thanks.

Dane is there a way to set it so we can see the poll results without voting, cuz none of those apply and I don't want to fuck up your survey.

See claws?

Pretty sure those are cougar tracks. Bear would have a larger heel pad on the rear foot and five toes I believe.
