Should I feel guilty for feeling so happy about this? The phrase "There is justice in this world" keeps running through my head. :moondance:

Obviously the opinions of anyone who don't free solo as hard aren't worth anything. Just razzin ya Pope. That's actually pretty rad. Forgive my ignorance but what climb is that?

Ken Nichols convicted and fined for bolt chopping

Jeez is right. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/nit-pick All I know is that I don't think I ever want to post my real name on here - especially after this thread full of petty animosity. Of course, if I ever do post my real name I'm sure someone will dig up this statement in a "look you're contradicting yourself" post. Wasn't this thread originally about bolting ethics? Talk about thread drift. Sure, bolting has been debated on cc.com ad infinitum but when people post their perspective separately from their ego it actually is interesting reading that makes me question my own ethics and point of view. Oh well, another potentially substantive discussion squelched by ego and petty nit-picking. I guess I should expect nothing less from cc.com (or the internet in general). Thanks for the entertainment though! -
Muffy saying she's been naughty is hot. Wait, wrong thread.

Let's see, I think I remember hearing something about "ending the culture of corruption" around those same elections. These "bullshit" investigations into the possible misuse power to get rid of U.S. attorneys for the gain of political advantage seem to fall into that line. If the U.S. attorneys were fired to impede investigations into Republican politicians and/or as retribution for not speeding up investigations into Democrats in time for elections that is corruption and an investigation into why the attorneys were fired is not "bullshit". Investigating how the executive branch (specifically the Vice President's office) keeps sensitive information safeguarded would also be related to ending corruption. It would ensure that sensitive information wasn't declassified or leaked for political reasons (Scooter anyone?). In order to avoid showing how his office safeguards secrets (or rather how it doesn't safeguard them) the Vice President takes the position that he's not part of the executive branch and thus not subject the executive order from the President saying everyone in the executive branch has to show how they safeguard sensitive information. So how can the VP invoke exective privilege (again to keep from releasing documents) if he's not part of the executive branch? But corruption isn't important right KK? Just Iraq? Hell let's forget about our civil rights while we're at it and just let any government official wiretap anyone for anything. No one's going to be able to challenge because they the Attorney General does what the Executive branch tells him to do (or not to do). Isn't the Attorney General supposed to be part of the judicial branch? I'm confused, how many branches of government are there supposed to be again?

So quite by coincidence I will be out there. Yay! Anyone mind if I spend all day aiding up Japanese Gardens? Just kidding, I should only take 5 hours.

If genetics is what defines us as human then all the protein-laden tissue paper in your bathroom and every skin cell that flakes off would qualify - hardly a convincing point. Can't derive an ought from an is. Just because we define death as when the heart stops for legal purposes (which is not the only definition of death by the way) doesn't necessarily mean it should be that way. Wait, what the fuck? I ask for your reasoning and what do you do? You turn the question around and expect me to provide an answer. Reading through the previous posts above all you're doing is trying to poke holes (not very convincingly) in other people's reasoning without providing your own. I'll provide my reasoning and thoughts on when life begins as soon as you have the decency to provide your own - you do have some thoughts right? Common courtesy would be to at least try to answer someone else's question before asking a list of questions of your own. Otherwise you could just keep asking questions without ever answering any - wait, that is what you do.
-
Talk about oversimplification - wait, sorry. Was that too big of a word for you? Maybe it's easier to judge things this way because then you don't have to try and understand the science or engage in an philosophical debate about when life begins or the greater good. I'd welcome a chance to hear your reasoning (note: yours means yours, not a cut and paste from someone else's blog) but I suspect the reason I haven't heard it yet is because there isn't any.

Future-car fuel-cells anyone?

The point could be made that living in this society not only makes it easy but actually encourages overeating (think huge portions etc.) because the food industry is spending multi multi multi millions of dollars. These shrinks have their work cut out for them. It's hard to limit yourself in country where it's so easy not to. That and the fact that these people have to actually go to a shrink to be helped whereas they just have to be watching TV to be encouraged to overeat.
-
Just a thought: Many who overeat compulsively may not recognize or realize that they themselves are exhibiting an obsessive/compulsive behavior. Or they may start obsessing about the only way they can think of treating their obesity - dieting. Perhaps pointing out this psychological aspect to some of these people would help with getting them to see someone who can help them.

I've wrecked on my bike at that exact spot in the exact same way. I will chime in and say I have dumped in the exact same fucking spot. I know at least two other people who have done the same there as well. Hope you feel better soon. Thanks Matt. As soon as I walked into Second Ascent the owner said: "Let me guess - the train tracks by the Ballard bridge?" Apparantly he knows of 10 different people who've wrecked there. Well 11 now.
-
On the way to Ballard to use the internet at a coffee shop before an appointment I managed to wreck on my bike - on the fucking train tracks underneath the Ballard bridge. Limped to Second Ascent to patch myself up (thanks Peter!) and am now at King's Hardware using their internet instead of the the coffee shop's. I'm not drunk yet but I'm trying hard so I can kill the pain in my arm, shoulder, and knee. Since I'm drinking and on the net I thought I would let everyone know. P.S. On a side note: WHY THE FUCK DOES IT HAVE TO BE SUNNY NOW?! WHY NOT WHEN I WAS FUCKING BIKING?! OH SURE IT'LL POUR FUCKING RAIN WHILE I BIKE AND MAKE IT SKETCHY AS FUCK BUT NOW IT'S FUCKING GORGEOUS WEATHER! FUCKING FUCK FUCK! Okay I feel better. Oh and to keep the discussion going - when did you last wreck on your bike?
-
So you stand for stereotyping, arrogance, and whining? What exactly does that mean? Sorry, I must be one of those "pseudo-intellectuals" you spoke of.

Hey, you know what they say about guys with small shoes right? They climb hard! If only it were true. It'd be more accurate if I chose tight shoes as my avatar. Ooh, I know - BigNuts - in reference to all the passive pro I place!

Boulderer: Says screw the bathroom - the approach is too long. Chalks up hands, shirt, pants, penis, and then pisses on side of road without getting out of the car.
