  1. I ended up doing Crown Mtn. this weekend and was surprised how much snow is still on the ridge between Grouse and Goat...in fact it is mostly snow covered with only patches of muddy trail exposed. So yeah, wouldn't be surprised if there is much snow still in Tricouni Meadow.
  2. I was thinking of driving my Ford Escort to scramble up Tricouni peak tomorrow...anyone know what the road/trail conditions are like? Matt Gunn's guide makes it sound like a 2WD is a bit iffy on that road, 103 Hikes makes no mention of 2WD potentially having problems until 1km or so from the trailhead. I would appreciate any info on road or trail conditions.
  3. Instead of hate, you should pity this fellow...clearly he got messed up somewhere along the way.

  5. I'm thinking of going for a hike on friday with my wife and one-year old. I was thinking Brandywine meadows. Can anyone comment on the conditions of the access road and/or trail? I don't have a 4 wheel drive. Thx
  6. Most of my regular climbing partners have moved, gotten girlfriends or are on the injured list. So... I am looking for someone to climb with on an occasional to semi-regular basis (being a new dad, i don't have as much free time as i used to). I am more interested in moderate multi-pitch/alpine routes vrs cragging, but the latter seems like a good way to get to know someone before heading out on something bigger. Some idea of what i have in mind: -Angel Crest -NE butt. of Slesse -NE Ridge of Bugaboo Spire -Prusick Peak -N Ridge of Stuart I’d be open to other suggestions, too. I am an experienced alpine climber, have a rack, rope etc. and lead up to 5.10. Fit and motivated. Inquire within. PS That's Vancouver, CANADA
  7. Have you seen that vigilante man Have you seen that vigilante man Have you seen that vigilante man I’ve been hearin’ his name all over this land Lonely nights down in the engine house Sleepin’ just as still as a mouse Man comes home, chase the crowds in the rain That’s a vigilante man Vigilante man Vigilante man Well I ramble around from town to town Ramble ¡®round from town to town And they hunted us a while like a wild herd of cattle That’s a vigilante man Tell me why does that vigilante man Tell me why does that vigilante man Carry that sawed off shotgun in his hand Would he shoot his brother and sister down Have you seen that vigilante man Have you seen that vigilante man Have you seen that vigilante man I’ve been hearin’ his name all over this land Vigilante man Vigilante man Vigilante man Vigilante man Vigilante man Vigilante man
  8. I guess normal people like eating meat? I like eating meat. But apparently America (and Canada) is eating much more than it needs to maintain good health...in fact overconsumption of meat is a risk factor in heart disease and colon cancer. Be healthier, reduce health care spending, help the food/biofuel issue. Win-win-win. All I'm suggesting is consider it.

    Green Socialism?

  10. Its a crime how much agricultural production goes to feeding livestock. Eat less meat means more food AND biofuel. Eating even one or two vegetarian dinners a week can make a difference.
  11. А зачем Вы злой? Просто через то, что у Вас нету партнеров на альпизм? Get a room, you two!
  12. Hard to see how much water you have left.
  13. I'm leaning towards something like this for commuting. Granted, I am less than 15km from my office. Anyone here have any experience w electric bikes?

    Last Days

I thought this thread was going to be about the real last days
  15. Fingers slipped out of a damp crack above the crux of Mosquito. I fell on a blue Metolius TCU. It almost torqued out - it was holding by a single lobe. Only other notable fall was on the 2nd last pitch of Birds of Prey (10a?)...a bit pumped and wanting a rest, I quickly placed a piece behind a flexing flake and then tried to "take" on it. I ended up inverted because I was already leaning back on the piece when it gave. Bruised a rib and didn't climb for the rest of the season (was September anayway). I think the piece that held was an offset alien in the 3/4" range.
  16. I am wanting to do an overnight hike this weekend- thinking about Garibaldi Lake/Taylor Meadows campsite, w Panorama Ridge as the goal. Anyone been up there lately that can provide info on the snow level, how much snow there is at the lake and above? Pics would be cool, too. I would also appreciate other suggestions if you think another destination would have better conditions (keep it within SW BC though). Thanks

    McCain speech

Bingo! The electorate gets what they deserve for not engaging the political process or issues. I would wager most people decide who they vote for based on the 10 second sound bites on the 6 o'clock news (i mean the masses - with MTV attention spans, not the learned cc.com posters). Thats why the modern political process is just a dog-and-pony show. Thats my $0.02 Oh, and for president!!!
  18. I thought this was going to be a thread about Everest!
  19. This method doesn't sound very safe. I'm glad you didn't get impailed by a flying picket.

    Gas prices vs ?

Apples and Oranges, Kevbone. Nice try "Autoweek".
  22. I would expect the crux pitch of Rock On will be wet...that always takes a looong time to dry...otherwise should be good. You should be able to see if climbs on the Apron (Snake, Diedre etc.) are dry by looking up from the road. Penny Lane and Burgers and Fries are quick drying, but often busy for this reason.
  23. Welcome back, C. You forget your password or what? And yes, we are, like, weird. It's why you luv us. It's my semi-yearly delurking season (sort of like the semi-yearly womens sale at Nordstrom, only different). The rest of the year I watch. And wait. What are the sale prices on women like at Nordstrom's? If you have to ask you can't afford them. The purchase price is the least consideration. The maintenance costs are what will bleed you dry. And the resale value is typically very low. Resale value!?...don't you usually have to pay to get rid of?
