Clintoris, what dates do you have available for the climb?

I have to admit that I have climbed on GPA since this incident. we took our chances and got away with it, but dont we take our chances everytime we climb? like it was said before, there is so much more water flowing into those cracks from rain and snowmelt than an overflowing holding tank, hard to fault the Park on this one. rockfall is a natural process that we, as climbers, will always have to contend with.

where is the O&T and what time?

does anyone have any strap-on crampons and ice tools that I could borrow?

I might be able to come up with an extra one for you to use, although your dates dont really work too well for me this week. Wed I might be heading up to the Pass for a little moonlight/headlamp skiing and skinning and on Fri I will likely be heading back to Oly. I will let you know if Wed falls through, its not a sure thing yet, and if I can go to Oly late on Fri then that night might still work. I will keep in touch, cheers!

if you are doing an overnight trip it doesnt really matter if they lock the gate as you wont be leaving. and what gate by the way? I have never seen a gate up there. during the ski season there a campers and cars overnight in the uppermost parking lot all the time, and you dont need a sno-park permit that I know of because the lot isnt maintained by the State Parks system. I have wanted to ski the Arm for a long time too, let me know how it goes. I will be up there in the resort during that time period, I will keep an eye open for you! have fun! I have skied south of the White Pass area only as far as the Hogsback. easy to get that far and nice lines to ski in that area, a bit short, but fun. getting all the way out to Goat Rocks from there looks fun.

how far up the road to the trailhead were you able to drive? what were the ski conditions like? great job on the route, nice pics too! thanks for posting. :-)

SV, did you see the earlier post of someone wanting to do the Baker trip around the 20-23? how do those dates work for you?

EE and WC you guys are both out by Alki right? anybody else? I am usually out that way too so are you guys interested in doing some beacon work some evening on Alki Beach? wrap them in plastic or something link that...

generally, dont expect any one thing to happen every time. it may stabilize or it may not, that is why you need to do assesments every time you go into the BC. and yes, you do need to worry about this layer all season long...and every other layer that may develope throughout the season. you never know which layer, old or new, might be the one that has reached its holding capacity and then gives out on you. take an avy class so you can learn to trust your own judgement.

are they open for night skiing or are you just going up for some moonlite skinning and skiing?

hey mtnfreak, I was thinking about a winter attempt, climb and ski, on either Shuksan or Baker right before Christmas. we have a bunch of family coming up from CA to stay at the family condo in Snowater/Glacier so I will be spending close to two weeks up there and I cant ski the resort for that long, I need some BC climbing and skiing. if you, or anyone else for that matter, are interested let me know.

where is Paradise Snow Sports? a ski pass to which resort?
