John, I checked out the Nunatak line and it looks like they have some pretty cool stuff. do you have any experience using there products? so they sleep as warm as claimed? pricey, but light, might be worth it if they worked well.
thanks for posting the TR...though after having experienced it I am not sure why I wanted to relive it by reading your post.
over 20 fucking k on a groomed trail in heavy tele gear for 3 turns! what a day. and in the rain no less...
I love Tricams and think they are awesome, particularly for granite...or at least thats where I seem to use them the most...but maybe I am just climbing more on granite...I dunno.
and while the littlest ones get the most use I like the big ones too. but that said you will eventually want to get SLCD's too. on certain types of rock/cracks/situations the SLCD's are easier to use.
there, is that about clear as mud?! LOL
so far we have about 4 of us heading out of Snoqualmie Pass Sun. looks like we will be heading for Silver Peak. let me know if you are interested in joining us.
I am looking at making some turns on Sun. up and down, not round and round on the XC trails. up at the Pass I would be very interested in skiing the Crooked Couloir or the Slot Couloir.
Sep can be a great time to go and the American Alpine Institute is a great organization to go with. someone else to consider for instruction/training is Dan Mazur with SummitClimb.com. checkout their website and drop him a line if you are interested.
I would second the vote for Hyak (Summit East). it is closed during the week so you can go up there and skin laps all you want in safe terrain. no avy danger, green/blue runs to practice on and easy access.
