Whoa!

If only things were so simple. Then simpletons with simplistic answers would be right more often, and making fun of fat people might make more sense...

Back in the '80s I had a pair of Hexcel alpine skis with some sort of honeycomb interior. Those pups were light! Problem was that there wasn't anything for binding screws to hold into, and guess what happened? Flotation shouldn't be much of a problem because even though you could be carrying a lot of weight, won't you be skiing on a consolidated spring snowpack?

The main feeling I get when I see that picture is sadness and empathy. Imagine what it would it would be like to have a body that tends toward obesity and not to be able to do anything about it.

Could a wildly imaginative person make up a character as bizarre as Michael Jackson?

Agreed. Poorly written film. Long, drawn out ending with too much blah, blah, blah. Kung Fu, on the other hand, pretty much rocked IMO.

Any other Kung Fu fans on the board? Most of you guys are younger than me and weren't around when Kung Fu first came to TV.

Snyder was just in Bellingham recently for a reading. I missed him, but received an autographed copy of his new book for Christmas. He's a nice fellow. I e-mailed him a question about one of his poems when I was teaching a unit on Poets of the North Cascades to my high school students. Snyder answered the question, then recommended me to Philip Whalen's recently published (or re-published?) poetry. One thing I really like about Snyder was that he wasn't just an intellectual ...rather he liked hard physical work ...trail maintenance and such. He was described as quite capable in that way. I like Snyder's writing about being in the outdoors. The Cold Mountain-style descriptive stuff. William Stafford is another poet that wrote about the North Cascades. He wrote a series of poems for the Forest Service on commission: The Methow River poems. They're level 3 stuff: obtuse and provocative. Kinda scary...

Yes. Got it this fall when I moved to Taholah. I get up at 5 a.m., read the Bellingham Herald on line, then jump on the erg. Usually 30 min. row. Yesterday I rowed 4k for time. I don't think I could do it w/o music though.
