  1. I know how to change my desktop background.
  2. Hey! I know Ed Grumbine!! Well, I used to know him a long time ago... He was a self-centered prick.
  3. Telemarking ...If it were easy, they'd call it snowboarding.
  4. Yeah, Bush is afraid that if brainless organisms are discarded, he'll be next.
  5. I've done the Banded Glacier route from that Easy Pass/Fisher Creek approach. You climb up out of Fisher E of the creek that drains the lake N of the toe of the Banded. By approaching to the lake in one day from Easy Pass, we did Logan as an overnight trip. That lake, however, is possibly the BUGGIEST place in the North Cascades!! OMFG! The HORROR!!

    BIG FUN ! ! ! !

Is that Fred peeking out from behind in the middle?
  7. True, but NF of Sharkfin is pretty slick. Short but schweeeet!

  9. I was thinking more 4921', 5085', & 5905'.
  10. A pathetic attempt to delay the defection of their customer base to Netflix, the superior business model. How long did they think it would take before their customers "purchased" a couple of videos that weren't returned in time and said WTF!
  11. Value Mine ...bingo. The NPS maintenance folks erased the mining developments and rehabbed the area nicely. It's hard to tell there was ever a large arrista and a bunkhouse there. Rescue cache on Sulphide Ridge ...bingo. Now, three lakes that support populations of golden trout? Hint: Two of them are relatively easy to get to...

    Gym Climbers

Hmmm. Gym climbing is fun and all ...but ...it's indoors!
  13. Are you kidding? Of course I remember EBs and Goldline. I may still have my first pair of EBs... I remember doing laps around Spire Rock in 1978 where I met this other young guy named Jim Yoder. We used to meet up at Spire Rock and boulder for hours -then he moved to Leavenworth. I was a climbing instructor for the 9th Infantry Division in Leavenworth during the summer of 78. We used a mil spec version of Goldline called Greenline. It was green (duh) and not as stiff as Goldline. We had heavy steel biners and led groups of soldiers in a week-long climbing course modeled after the Mountaineers Basic Course. We had a special permit from the USFS to camp uphill from Bridge Creek CG on the other side of the Icicle. There was a back trail from our camp that led down to Classic Crack. We did laps on that every night after dinner and a couple of bowls snuck away from the Officer in Charge. (Strains of Springsteen's Glory Days in the background...)I was a CLIMBER, man! That was my identity and self concept. Back in the early 80's I pilfered a bunch of fixed soft iron pins from (at the time) some obscure crag across the road from Bridge Creek CG. I assumed they were military issue. Is it possible these were related to your activities in the Icicle? No way. We were clean climbers . We were already starting our own collections of relic pitons.
  14. Wow, Bruce, I've been served! I do, however, have a photo of myself standing on top of Trigger Finger.

  16. That should keep you busy for a little while...
  17. Name 3 lakes that support populations of golden trout.
  18. Name the Whatcom County Deputy, still serving in that capacity, who survived the crash of the Navy helo at Perfect Pass.
  19. Where in the North Cascades is there a tiny hut, above treeline, which contains rescue equipment? Hint: the hut is a about the size of a two-man tent, and was originally installed by the U.S.G.S. as part of a research project. It's not the S. Cascade Glacier. In fact, it's N of Hwy 20, W of Ross Lake, on a ridge adjacent to a prominent glacier. If it has been removed since I was last there, please translate the question to past tense...
  20. What was the name of the big mine that was located about .1 mile from the beginning on the Boston Basin trail?
  21. Continuing on the old guy theme... Anyone remember peanut night at the Ski Tavern in Leavenworth, circa about 1979? One used to be able to buy a bucket of beer --served in a galvanized bucket with a dipper. The peanuts were all-you-can-eat, free, and the shells were dropped on the floor.
  22. I believe you win. ...I'm just glad there are some old guys on here that remember EBs and Goldline...
