Should “Motorcycle Hill" have been closed?

warning: choking hazard -
Lets add that one...though I had eliminated it as it only comes in dayglo. http://promountainsports.com/index.php/shelter/black-diamond/firstlight-tent-yel.html

Anyone own a TentTarp tent? This one is a lot like a cheaper Akto: Moment http://www.tarptent.com/moment.html This one is a two person, but still really light: Scarp 2 http://tarptent.com/scarp2.html#overview

These things are more like a bivy...only gonna fit one person. And I don't think I would want to spend a long time in one. More for just sleeping and then moving. Rab Ridge Master http://promountainsports.com/index.php/shelter/rab/ridge-master.html for me? nah.

On the very high end of things...perhaps crazy high. Hillberg Akto http://promountainsports.com/index.php/shelter/hilleberg-tent-akto.html Not something I would get unless I got a deal or found it used. Hillberg does seem to have really good design and get good reviews though for most of their tents. Talking to Jim they are a pretty cool company...just the price is really, really steep.

I'm looking at lightweight shelter right now, and I know I have the propensity to geek out over stuff like this, so I'm wondering if others of you do the same. I know I'm not the first to consider this question. I'm fully aware that its easy to be critical of doing this, and of paying good money for a solution where another much, much cheaper solution will work and you won't die is not something some of you will do. Thats fine, but I just have a thing for well made equipment. Yes, there may be better uses for my time...but I actually like doing this. What might Olyclimber be looking for? - Something that sleeps 1 person, but wide enough to sleep 2 in a pinch. Could be a 2 person shelter if light enough. - Something that is well made and has a thoughtful design and will last for a while. - Something is very lightweight. (2-3.5 lbs?) -Something that provides shelter for the PNW...i.e. you could sit in it during a 2 day rain storm. -Something that provides not only cover for the people, but nice to have is a small integrated vestibule that provides an area for cooking in the rain and for stowing gear/pack. -Would prefer a non-bright color, so as to camp out in relative privacy (i would never poach) - Something that does well in the PNW clime without to much condensation - Single vs. double wall...I don't care about it that much - Doesn't cost an insane amount..but open to more expensive solution if I could find it in good condition used. -Something that is 3+/4 season, or would make do as such -Something that packs down very small So right out the gate I'll eliminate: - The Walmart Pup Tent - Sleeping in my coveralls - "Liquid Blanket" - A bivy sack - Stuffing grass in my pants I'll follow this up with a few things I've found in my search.

while I do kid a lot (as an admitted loser and nerd), i really did order the book as I'm curious. I'm not so narrow minded as to think I can't learn something new, though I'm not typically one to jump on a fad. more than likely diet isn't the number one concern of people who find plenty time to exercise daily and in general take OK care of themselves. however if that doesn't describe you or you're trying to get to another level.... Since I got the infection in my arm a while back and then broke my leg, I've weighed up to 35lbs more than I did before I got the infection. I have tried an number of things to get back to my fighting weight, and some things have worked for a while and others haven't. The way I look at it is I'm just going to keep trying new things and not give up. I'm actually closer than I have been right now, and I'm just looking something else I can do to get over the point I've been stuck at for a couple months. This is just another piece of information that may or may not work. Its worth a shot. People in these forums should be lucky to call on John as a resource. Sometimes I think he is a nerd too...but so were Bill Gates or Steve Jobs. If applying attention to details with extreme effort is being a nerd, then all I can say is I wish I was one too. John has helped me out on a number of fitness related things. Not all of them worked out, but not his fault...it was mine for "falling off the fitness wagon"...no excuses here. so just being clear...when I say I like it because it is "Frieh approved", I am seriously endorsing it. Now NOLSe approved? Thats another story!

Good for you Melissa! Hey, at least its steak.
-
thanks. regime. regimen. regiment. all great words of French origin coming from the same root. but regimen it is.
-
ok since this is Frieh approved, I just ordered the book too. lets do this.
-
well we could both start with the not stepping on the scale part. next month if that doesn't help we can add whatever other steps the regiment has.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47836314/ns/local_news-seattle_wa/#.T9uqeytYumA is this a sign of the end of days? i always knew it would be a damn cat that brought it. how many of you down there have it now?
-
no, but post the links and i'll take a look! we can have a contest.

i just went back and found a spelling/language error in my post. it is now corrected, enjoy.

its true. douche is more of a verb than a noun. but then there is the bag. that bag complicates things. here is a kit, and the bag is right there on the bottom. but what, pray tell, is so bad about it? you could say it was a bag the held a douche nozzle and a douche pump. nothing wrong there.
-
testing: Rob, don't be an ACTUAL DOUCHE. NOT THE BAG THAT IT IS CONTAINED IN. zing. i think it actually works pretty well. thoughts?
-
though to be precise, a douche is typically used on any body cavity...so I guess it is gender neutral enough. thoughts?
