  1. Adjustable daisies are the shit. Don't listen to the standard daisy folks. No, you won't be able to break the top-step barrier. That's more about nuts than daisies. The top step barrier is easily broken with Russian Aiders, but they are a real bitch to find.
  2. And what happens when Hillary tells you that accidents resulting from climbing are not covered by the nationalized health care system? It's more likely to be my insurance company that says it.
  3. When I hear of uninsured I think of elderly folks, or poor families and kids, not "healthy, athletic, 20-year-olds". Seems to me the person looking out for #1 is YOU and the other posters on this site, who want ME to pay for YOU. It's already been said. We can take your insurance premium, my insurance premium, and everyone else's insurance premium and pay for healthcare for EVERYONE. I would be willing to take a risk, possibly reducing the quality of my care so that others can have some. Mostly because I don't think quality of care would diminish at all.
  4. Please try harder in the future. I'm not going to pick this apart because even you know this is a poor argument.

  6. A new MTV reality show "Roomies". THe first season features Oj Simpson, Mike Tyson, Gary Busey, and Brittney Spears sharing a loft in New York City. Possible highlights: Anti-depressant free Thursdays Gary Busey Mike's night to cook dinner OJ gets all stabby again
  7. I will not be there.
  8. R&D in Leavenworth has an easy chimney. At the top of the route, there is a more difficult chimney in the ground. Staying along the cliff edge, head to climber's right and look down.
  9. I'd bet most of those kid's parents don't know what leading is.
  10. ...and the government wouldn't pay $70k. The insurance companies don't pay $70k.
  11. And THAT is a compelling argument? The government will decide this? FUCK YOU. The government's decision would be no different than a private insurance company. Don't kid yourself.
  12. I can't help but think that you are one of those "It's ok because it's not me" kind of people. It could quickly become you or someone you care about, since its pretty obvious you aren't a humanitarian. it's all about "feelings" after all. that's how we should base these decisions. and doing "something" is better than doing "nothing". something. anything. It's not about feelings. It's about logic. I am the last person to do something for the love of the common man. I am a bleeding heart nothing. I do want to thank you for generalizing me based on a few posts on an internet board.
  13. And THAT did not turn out well.

  15. ... Life, liberty, and happiness
  16. Silly response - yes. Silly question - no. Why not eliminate the private market for food and place it in the hands of the government? The arguments used to justify nationalizing healthcare apply equally well to food. If you want the government to be responsible for paying for, administering, and distributing all goods and services in the healthcare market on the grounds that the private sector is incapable of doing so efficiently, how is it that the same government could not execute the same tasks just as well when it comes to producing and distributing food? Seriously. This is called "the slippery slope". Fact: The private sector is having no problems providing food at affordable rates to everyone in the US. It's working. Don't try to fix it. Fact: The private sector is not able to provide healthcare at affordable rates to a significant portion of the US. It's not working. Maybe we should try something.
  17. You might be on to something there... Except that in it's current form, most people in the US ARE getting food. In fact, too much of it. I haven't heard about people with little or no education and poor employment prospects getting too much healthcare. ...and shit
  18. My sister
  19. I'm as in to fear mongering as anyone, but I can't really call this a compelling argument for the status quo. No one can represent my interests better than me. In seeking healthcare, my interest is the most informed, fastest, and successful treatment available, all of which cost money. The current structure has someone making decisions about my care who only has incentive to reduce money spent. Their interests are working in direct opposition to mine. ...and all of them were poor before they got into politics
  20. Except they don't do the latter. Sorry, butthat tune has gotten old. The only example any of you patriot-act handwringers can come up with is Padilla (who has been convicted). As for the former, well, they'll be regulating every aspect of your health care, not just "ingrown toenails". They'll decide when you can be treated, how much it can cost, what medicine you are "permitted" to take, and so on, all under a bureaucracy about as caring and efficient as the DMV. You are pushing the logic of the "patriot-act handwringers" into universal healthcare. At least the "patriot-act handwringers" have a single data point for evidence. Currently, there is no evidence that government provided healthcare in the US won't work. If you have insurance there is already someone deciding what, when, and how you will be treated. The big difference is that the person controlling it today is motivated by profit and your illness is seen as a liability. The biggest change that will occur with government provided healthcare is simple; the current structure will die. Rich people won't be so rich.
  21. thou shalt poo
  22. I'll have what he is having.
  23. Please tell me what the govenrment can't do to you today. I don't think denying you a surgery for an ingrown toenail is much of of persuasive tool when all they have to do is declare you a terrorist and throw you in jail. Look at all those oppressed swedes.
  24. The military isn't the sum total of our beauracratic leadership. I like your half-assed extrapolation based on one data point.
  25. Evolution picks will fit in the head. but... Evo picks were made for a different tool and have a different mountign angle. This might work for your style of drytooling, but I don't think you could get a decent swing into ice. I've done some drytooling with the Cascade picks and it works pretty well. I just dropped a pic in the gallery HERE
