  1. Jeremy Jones is way hardcore snowboarder. Beside Half Dome there a ton of other difficult first descent all over the place that he has done. I agree the quote is sort of stupid, but he definitely deserves respect for pulling off shit that most people can't even fathom.
  2. There are a few. First multi-pitch climb, I was climbing with a buddy head was leading all the pitches. Craig would get to the end of a pitch and yell off belay. I would take him off, and he would pull up all the slack. Then I would start climbing and about 25(+) I would hear your on belay. It didn't really register until I was up about 5 pitches that I wasn't on belay until Craig said I was. This spring on Raineer I was caught in a white out with out a tent and only with a summer bag up on Lib Cap. I spent a very cold night shivering out in the open with all my clothes on. Thank gawd that only went on for a day, I figured I was good for 3 but I really didn't want to find out. Another time soloing Solar Slab in Red Rocks. I got up through the first initial pitches no problem up to the big ledge. Then I started up the corner above. About 250 feet I realized that I was on another route and not sure how hard it was. I had three options continue into unknown terrain, downclimb, or traverse to the actual route. I decided to traverse. Definitely my scariest solo about halfway across things started getting ugly. First it started snowing, then the holds were becoming quite frail. I got to a point were I could climb back the way I came and all the hold were shit. Eventually I made to the route with a huge sigh of relief. Those are probably the scariest moments.
  3. He wouldn't have gotten out of the crevasse without that rope. Well he knew that he wasn't feeling Simon at the other end, if he would have left it hanging up through the opening at least there would be a chance of Simon seeing the line and looking for him. Eventually he needed the rope though once he decided he was going to try and get out.
  4. After a long alpine climb I crave the four basic food groups fat, sugar, salt, and beer.
  5. But Lillooet?
  6. Dood you missed Amasaback and the Portal trails. Those trails are my second and third favorite trails after Poison Spider. At some point I have to go later in the spring or early summer and do shuttle from the La Sal to Poison Spider. It comes out to be about 30+ miles of mainly downhill riding. The trail out of the La Sal's has all kinds of dirt jumps and kickers. I saw pictures and the ride looks epic.
  7. Yep, shit happens, especially when your crawling through it.
  8. All this talk about Simon, what about Joe. Some things I thought of when I saw the movie last night. First should Joe have kept his whole pack? I think I would have trimmed it down so to the necessities. Was it really beneficial to carry a spent stove among other items? Should he have kept pulling the rope down to himself once he realized Simon wasn't attached to it? Should he have splinted his leg earlier? over all thought the movie was most excellent.
  9. Squid we'll be leaving early Saturday am.

  14. Man your off your rocker. Sorry your on your own on this one.
  15. Must say I am thinking about both. Still want some more untracked powder lines, but I always think about Moab and desert riding out there. Moab rocks.
  16. Yeah that was me, it took me a while to figure out which way to have my finger positioned for the shallow mono, and I had to wait for the right conditions inorder to stick the sloper.
  17. So who into going up from Seattle? I really would like to hop on Syncro or one of the routes out on that wall.
  18. Fern I don't think it was touching though. I thought it was just death-sicle when we drove by yesterday? On a cancelled Ice Fest note, the folks that own Reynolds also have a ranch in Hat Creek that they rent out for $400 a night sleeps 10. Only 20 minutes from Marble Canyon might be fun place to stay for a climbing and night time debauchery, though it definitely fun hanging in town at night.
  19. My pet peeve is the person behind me, obviously sick and contagious, couging and sneezing all their germs (snot, mucous, phlegm, etc) onto the back of my head and into my breathing zone. In my opinion, that's an assault that they should be held accountable for. At least when I'm sitting by a fat person I can get up and stand for much of the flight....and when I'm sitting down I can flatulate and make them just as uncomforable as I am. I hate that too, so I just turn on the air vent above and face it back to them.
  20. Cool on Southwest it sounds like you can get a seat that you don't have to share.
  21. Damn that would be good to know which airlines charge extra. At least you would know whether or not your seat might have a chance of being overflowed into by a neighbor.
  22. lucky you, sheesh
  23. I am glad you can appreciate it.
