  9. I have been rading "Beyond Risk", and Royal Robbins must be his champion. When he was here we lambasted him, now he's gone we miss him. Classic Cascade Climbers.
  10. Whirly moved out - that's why I have room now Maybe a pubclub/bouldering sesh next week or two. The cost is maybe $150 for lumber, screws and t-nuts, and another $600 for holds . Need a drill, 7/16 paddle bit, hammer, construction adhesive and 3# each 1-1/2", 3-1/2" screws.
  11. How many "low-impact" recreational uses are there? Further, what defines "high impact" ? And, no. I wasn't saying that it is acceptable. It's not that black and white, unfortunately. I was suggesting that there is relative impact that should be considered before getting one's panties in a bunch about some chalk and pathways through a delicate environment. Historical perspectives of areas are valid considerations when discussing impact. Those that forget history are destined to repeat it... In the Bishop area, the activities of climbers are a relatively small area of gorges, boulders, cliffsides and depressions. Relatively nominal when considering the vastness of the surrounding area.
  12. Climbing and even ORV pales in comparison to what the LAWP has done to the area.. This guy started damage to that area and it's people that was unprecedented. Just go into the Owens River Gorge for a taste of real destruction.
  13. Finished the column on the right corner today, added bracing, beefed up the wing and added some small panels for feet: total square footage: 160 sq feet of ab-burnin' crankage!!! I am sure the neighbors downstairs were wondering what the hell was going on this weekend Visitors are welcome!

  15. Somewhere between the short days and the holidays, pacing manically in a too-big apartment I realized I had room for a bouldering cave. No more than 150 square feet, but enough to burn the abs and keep in the game. Wit the help of my friend Brian, we started saturday morning. After a couple of hours, it was coming together: Experimenting with a small formation on the tall end seemed like a good way to fill an unstable corner: Brian helped me set the rest of the panels for this phase, andthe holds start to go up: The end of phase 1: 8 feet wide, 12 foot roof with a 3 foor stub wall at the low end. When the formation goes in and I stabilize the wing, I can put in a 16' boulder problem. Phase two next week.

Erik There was a post that was split a while ago. It seemed to work well, then it's easy to move an offending post. It doesn't invalidate the persons comment or knock the thread so far off that you're wading.
