I havent posted due to various personal reasons but I know personally those involved as well as Hardy and all I can say is our lives are a journey that only we alone can fully know, he was a vital and supportive spirit who made a positive impact upon all those he touched and laughed with. May his circle of loved ones maintain the flame.

Interesting tips, the more the merrier. I tried body hauling once while soloing Prodigal Sun, my first solo and it was horrendous clusterfuck. Pig jammed on everything it could find.

Looks like a quality setup, good luck to ya! -
I use the Metolius daisy, but regardless it seems to me that even when I did use the traditional "tacked" daisy it wasnt difficult to see how I was clipped in and to anticipate for such a loading.

Alot of the new and young climbers are joining "climbing teams" at their local gym. They can get the MTV fix they need from a gym and where that leads them who can say. But those that wish to move on will at least have their pebble wrestling skills down pat. Hopefully they can get inspired by another aspect of the sport...or mebbe not.

Good points all around but darn it I still don't want to fork out a ton for "another" tent. I might just get one just to have and try since we already own some larger and smaller traditional tents. Just feeling guilty leaving the big buddies behind or trying to cram 450 pounds of human and animal into a tiny tent, although in winter it might be a great way to keep warm. We considered the bug issue and that might be a deciding factor as would wind/debris. Still gonna mull it over and play with the collective info from the comments. Thanks gang!

HAH! He came into the Starbucks I was working at near the Stardust in Vegas on new years eve several years back. He looked just like his "caricature", very creepy indeed. Sorry for the digression...resuming our regularly scheduled thread...

JoshK, How did that Megamid turn out? I am thinking of a lightweight backpacking shelter but I dont want the extra weight of a full on tent. Were hoping to use it with us and the 2 dogs, 80 and 100 pounds (no the 100 pounder can't carry a load, hes got jacked knees). Just looking for something roomy and light and it seems you can buy an optional floor now. I am just afraid of the Rott going bug nuts if a mouse comes in.

She has a strange texture reminiscent of an extruded plastic item.

But, also a reply from BD: I have mixed feelings considering I spent my "crucial" years in the SW and how now it is seeing such use/abuse in the name of "progress". Dare I compare the flagrant actions of another desert activist who seems to be getting accolades these days, R O deliberately violated the local ethics and still seems to be a "hero" WTF? The downward spiral continues.

Very cool story and thanks for the heads up on the Raven!

How's that? Donovan was unlucky while the kids were stupid? Brian, I think chirp was referring to the notion that Recreational Darwinism was thwarted in this instance. Consider this excerpt from the article: So I would surmise that the intent of chirp's post was that two unprepared people survived while one prepared person evidently has not. Sobo read me like a book, thats exactly what I was thinking, but trying to beat around the bush so as not to come off like some sort of extreme misanthrope. In actuality I am only 65% Misanthropic (I heard the voices too)

After reading the account one almost would think/wish the roles should have been reversed.

Resonable, I appreciate the fact that they actually responded. I replied with a thank you and a commendation on his response and actions of BD. I also apologized for the "knee jerk reaction" but also stated that is was heartening that the community as a whole felt compelled to react.
