  1. Thank you. That's what I wanted to know. So what is the proper rating for COD? I've seen it rated 5.10b according to some. If it's really 5.9, I'd just go for it. But Castle Rock 5.9 can be quite hard.
  2. Can I get onto Canary p2 from Old Gray Mare?
  3. Crack of Doom is 5.10a, if I recall. Do I have a different option if I don't want to lead Crack of Doom?
  4. ...and let's not forget his total war doctrine which (rightly or wrongly) left an estimated 3 million japanese civilians incinerated on the streets and in the homes of most major cities there. Yet FDR is a universally loved icon of the american left today. I just don't get it. I get it. Better to kill 3 million of the enemy to let them kill 100,000 of your own people. It's a no-brainer.
  5. I'm looking for information on these two less often climbed route on Castle Rock in Tumwater Canyon. I'd heard Saints is somewhat lichen covered, especially on the second pitch. Is it worth doing? On Old Gray Mare, what do you do after the first pitch? It's a one pitch route, right? Then you finish on the second pitch of Canary?
  6. I'll bet the kids just love you. Don't the tools leave burrs all over the bars?
  7. You know what that stuff is? Almost, but not quite, Bio Diesel. And Dru, isopropanol can be murder on your cuticles.
  8. Ha, ha, ha, ha. Look who's talking!
  9. But what does any of this have to do with extroversion?
  10. Nail polish removers typically have, in addition to acetone, various esters, such as butyl acetate. There aren't many all-purpose paint removers. If you want safe, you have to find the one that is specific to the sort of paint, be it alkyd, enamel, laquer, etc. The nasty, universal removers all seem to have methylene chloride in them.
  11. As I recall you asked to be banned because you wanted to break away. What made you decide to come back?
  12. This article was on the front page of the PI. I think it is germaine to the discussion. It shows how we've made similar mistakes in the past and have regretted them, as someone already stated. Japanese Internment
  13. All I know is I have to cross that suck-ass bridge every day to get to work, and if they don't replace it soon it's going to sink, like the old I-90 bridge.
  14. If we can't torture you, how are we going to find out whether or not you are a terrorist or not?
  15. Chuck, where do you think the "Ramps to Nowhere" came from? There was once a plan to do just that.
  16. Way to go Jay. Completely divert the discussion with an off-topic article. Very Bush of you.
  17. There was a plan to use tolls to pay for the new bridge. They were going to start raising money by imposing tolls on the old bridge immediately, if I recall correctly. The residents sued in court citing a statute that stated that once the bonds on the original bridge were paid off, tolls could not be reimposed. They won.
  18. There was a push about ten years ago to replace the 520 Bridge. The Montlake people managed to kill it then. It's now to a point where they can't kill it. It's reached a critical point where something must be done soon.
  19. Dru knows this from experience. He knows his shit.
  20. As applied to non-citizens. Not that I agree with it.
  21. 6 Million Dollar rock? Visit www.etalco.com
  22. Wrong. Larger people have a larger surface area, and therefore lose more heat through convection than smaller people. Think again. Volume increases as the cube whereas surface area increases as the square. I did not state the function of Surface Area v. Volume. Larger people have larger surface area. What is there to think again about? Additionally, because larger people have a larger volume, as you correctly stated, they have higher energy requirements and need more food to maintain homeostasis. They lose more heat, but they have a lot of heat to lose. Indeed more food is required.
  23. Lockers would be safer if you have them, but not necessary. If you are using opposed non-locking carabiners, you want to make sure they are on slings the lengths of which are adjusted so the biners share the load equally, and you want to make sure they are not against a projection of the rock that could hold a gate open.
  24. Fairweather's post was totally relevant. It says the courts have historically protected CITIZENS from suspension of the right of Habeas Corpus.
  25. The technology exists to move UW Rock, if necessary. It wouldn't even be all that difficult.
