  1. There is a very good reason why the media don't reveal these abuses. Outside of whistleblowers, they don't have access to the information. Investigations depend on access to secret documents. The only way to get access to secret documents is for Congress to give an investigative body priviledges to view these documents.
  2. you're not being told what to do.... if you use a gri-gri at vw - it's because you CHOOSE to go there. This is now getting into semantics. Enough. Another thing I wonder about is what will become of the carpet over foam at Cascade Crags? Will they rip it out and go back to gravel? I rather like the carpet, as it makes for a clean environment. It's good for top roping, but it sucks for bouldering. I dislike dragging crash pads around.
  3. Hey, the real issue isn't the merit of the belay device, it's choice. People don't like to be told what to do or how to do it. Experienced climbers want to make their own choices, not have someone else make choices for them.
  4. I have friends who live in both Seattle and Everett and it would be a plus for me to be able to head up there to climb with then at no extra cost.
  5. Vote to see that.
  6. Stone Gardens: $43/month no initiation fee Vertical World: $49/month, $40 initiation fee Now it would be great if you could join VW and climb at any one of the four gyms. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think one can do that.
  7. If the Republicans lose their majority in Congress, the proverbial substance will hit the fan at supersonic speed. It would be great fun to watch as all the skeletons fall out of the closet at once.
  8. You are a clever boy. A regular Philosopher.
  9. Alex, what do you think about Jello Tower SF?
  10. This picture is for the woman who pulled around my car and drove in front of me to stop on the railroad tracks. I guess it is what comes of "negative reinforcement".
  11. Go climb at Castle Rock. The ratings there can be quite stiff for Washington.
  12. I'm not that big a drinker, really. But I'd fix people's cams for cheap, like $5 each.
  13. This is the place where you can buy the supplies you need to repair cam trigger wires. It's a great place. It was featured in the PI the other day. They've got some burly gear there. Ugh, ugh, ugh! Pacific Industrial Supply
  14. I think Dwayner used to use that avatar image of yours. At first glance I think it is Dwayner come back from the grave. It's freaky, man!
  15. Thanks to Muffy and Dave along with Google, our efforts will eventually change the way Americans spell common words like "speach". Actually all words will have multiple spellings. Think how easy it will be for school children in the future. They can choose whichever way they like. Liberation, that's what I'm talking about.
  16. How could anyone not like multipitch climbing? Buy Sam some more comfortable rock shoes maybe?
  17. Always someone says that. Do you use that when you are rappelling too? No question, you can't beat the rope as a tie-in. It's adustable even! At some point you'll likely need an independent anchor, be it a sling or whatever.
  18. I think the quote is "it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt", which may be attributable to Mark Twain (or not).
  19. Yeah, it's a weird thing to be selling orchids on a climbing site, but gotta get rid of some plants to make more room in the greenhouse before winter. I'm repotting and have divisions. I have Cattleya, Masdevallia, Paphiopedilum, Dendrobium, and a few other oddities. I've got lots of Masd. Prince Charming 'Florizel'. If you've ever wanted to try Masdevallias, that is one that grows like a weed. Orange flowers, with red hairs. Send PM is interested. Masdevallia Prince Charming Lc. Molly Tyler
  20. We'll sure miss you.
  21. I'll see how it goes at work this week. If I go it'll have to be Wednesday.
  22. Dru uses a lot. He must float about all the time with a dazed grin on his face.
  23. Well they didn't ban you.
  24. What you are saying is that it is impossible to break an ankle on a 15 foot boulder problem when the landing on a pile of rocks. Okay, whatever, Dru.
  25. I had no trouble with the chimney part. It starts with a layback. You would know this if you knew more than just what you read on cc.com.
