Pffft, damned prissy self righteous two plankers. If telemarking were fun, everyone would do it.

thanks, that call and response was a good read.

Already On Top has a birthday? Whoddathunkit? Nod on wayward son.

somebody needs to make a movie on this subject

Does anyone else perceive the strangeness of the situation: a woman who's vegetablehood is largely self-inflicted due to bulemia will ultimately starve to death?

They do have that "hair growth" gum Jmace, but it only stimulates the hair on your back and in your ears.

I don't know the details of drug based euthanasia in humans, but I know with farm animals if you kill them with drugs, the meat is not edible, hence the popularity of using a gun. NOT that I'm endorsing that method for TS, I just don't know that her organs would be usable after a massive dose of barbituates. I do think the starvation approach is gruesome and pointlessly cruel. It is a relief to know there is nothing of import that needs the attention of congress, so they can spare the time and attention to pass a bill specifically for this individual and look into the problems of multi-million dollar earning steroid junkies.

At long last, a reliable answer to the big question. God FAQ don't worry, it's work safe.

That stuff is on private land? Fuck, I'm in, I'll pony up Mr. Franklin to keep that stuff accessible. Bigwalling, you've never been to the Icicle? Index is pretty bitchen, but the Icicle is probably the best dispersed cragging in the state, it'd be a heinous crime to lose it bit by bit.

We went in over Easy Pass, down Fisher Creek to the stream that drains off the Douglas Glacier. Up that valley, on the left side in slowly thickening forest & brush, across an alder flat, up a bear trail on the first headwall just left of the stream, then a diagonal brush ramp left to right gets up the second headwall and onto the glacier below Thunder Peak. It's a great area, long day in. (we hiked up Easy Pass in late afternoon shade, slept in Fisher Creek, and finished the next day, made it a pretty comfortable approach) Douglas Glacier may be pretty broken up this year.

I talked to three guys who did N Face on Triumph a couple years ago at the bivy site on the NE Ridge. They didn't seem that impressed with it, but had a good time. I think they did the original line, not the Burdo variation. Seemed at odds with the oooh-wow impression I'd always held of that side of the peak, maybe they were just jocular but reticent hardmen.

I don't know about you, but as I read I kept hoping that The Descent was going to be a little better than it was.

I guy I knew named Bob VanBelle put up some hard problems there in the early 80's.

Klenke: The story behind the story gets wierder still if you read more of the stuff at that caving message board. It appears that Thomas Lera stole the story from Ted, changed things, wrote better, and simply claimed to have written it in 1987. He's since sold the story to a small indie movie production company. The real Ted and B have come forward on that message board. Ted of course admits it was just a story, though based on a real cave exploration, the photos (including the passage opening and the legendary Ted himself in that crawl) and most of the geography are real, from Interstate Cave in Utah which goes under a freeway. The suddenly changing wind, loud noises, moving rock, etc are simply embellishments.

Chouinard-Herbert baby!

Could be, but I think you're too short to have a good time down there, at least until shoulder stands are sport climbing approved.

yeah, and the dog ate my homework. Keep a loaded 9mm on your counter, I'd guess you can't blame anyone but yourself. I suppose it depends on just how fresh your steak is, or how much your kids object to what you're cooking, but I don't see that much need for a pistol as a kitchen utensil. Monte Python's Flying Circus has moved on, but it's nice to see someone is still making new episodes of Gumby Theater.

Squamish in the summer? We were on a budget, so that's what we did, with about 15 of our closest friends. It was big fun, but I suspect not what you're looking for.

I believe you win. ...I'm just glad there are some old guys on here that remember EBs and Goldline... What Skeezix, you started in 1975 and don't remember EBs and Goldline? I started in 1972 at Joshua Tree and remember them well. Guidebook was about 50 pages long and you could pull into Hidden Valley Campground friday night and have your choice of sites. Goldline was the tool to use until you could save up the bucks for one of those fancy perlon things. I think our first was a 9mil because it was cheaper. EB's were advanced shit -- I first used some big ass hiking boots (Lowa Scouts) then graduated to real climbing boots, Calcaires, which were some black euro Robbins Blue Boot equivalent. EB's those were the ticket, and all you needed to know was your size. 1957 though, that's awesome. Do you have any way-back-in-the-day photos scanned that you could post? I'd love to see 'em.

There's just something so grotesque about a fat tick, especially when it's attached to you.

That supertopo thread does a great job of honoring Kamps and telling stories about him. I knew what a bold, talented, and influential climber he was, but it was charming to read about what a good person he was to boot.

I created a female character just to see what would happen. I found I typically got alot of free armor, weapons and junk...but also got some AMAZING guys that would NOT leave me alone. Even after I told em I was a guy they kept "chatting at me seemingly disbelieving. I'm not a woman, I just play one on the Internet. Like the punchline to that joke: Hippy: "Aren't you going to ask me if I'm a boy or a girl?" Trucker: "I don't care, I'm gonna fuck you anyway."

That's pretty funny, thanks for the link Chirp. He has a serious obsession and attention to detail, may be a good player American though, and probably lives Seattle to Portland if he lists the mountains of Cascadia as being Rainier, Adams, Hood, and St. Helens. The tree octopus is a pretty brilliant piece of work. Could be "she" I suppose, there are some of them in the MMORPG universe, right?
