  1. Was actually surprised at how straightforward the approach was; except the last bit up the waterfall/slabs. Maybe some cardboard cutouts of Lynn Hill in a bikini pointing to the trail

I can hear your mocking tone, Erik. This is a very important skill to learn on toprope. Much like climbing at Marymoor in a helmet and backpack. Greg W Whatever happened to speedmetal?
  4. Actually, the reason he is grabbing the rope is because he just heard his belayer say, "Doood, you're the hand!" Greg W

  8. An open letter to everyone on cc.com: RR666 & I would like to thank everyone for respecting the "CLOSED FOR CLEANING" signs we posted on the road to Green Giant Buttress. We had Dreamer all to ourselves on Saturday. Note to Mssrs. Constantino & Greyell: Climb was nice, but you could provide a more pleasant approach. A little responsibility in this area would be appreciated. Greg W [ 08-12-2002, 09:03 AM: Message edited by: Greg W ]

  13. quote: Originally posted by trask: Greg, your boss just called. He wants you to work late tonight, and possibly the weekend. That sounds right. I had your number listed as "bitch to call if you want me to work late" on my job application.

  16. quote: Originally posted by jkrueger: Take a carabiner in one hand, and smack it against your other hand, gate said up, hard enough to make it snap open. Because wire gates have less mass, it takes a greater force to open them, thereby making them less prone to gate lash. Makes sense, but I still have one question. Can I use Trask's head instead of my hand to perform this test? Greg W
  17. That's what I thought. Thanks, Matt. Matt, here's some TAD for you: Greg W [ 08-09-2002, 02:36 PM: Message edited by: Greg W ]
  18. quote: Originally posted by icegirl: Nothing like looking up and seeing the rope unclip itself from the quickdraw/ice screw above you to make you start looking into the gate lash issue... I might be a bit ignorant here (go ahead and hit me while I'm vulnerable), but I am not too clear on the "gate lash" phenomenon. Could someone clue me in on the actual event and what situations would lead to it? Thanks. Greg W
