Bill, You seem like a reasonable guy. What do you think Obama should do with Afgahnistan? SHould he just pack up and leave? Maintain what he inherited (by all accounts failing)? Escalate/Spend more? Other? Same with Iraq. Same with the economy and global financial stabalization. My opinions are clear. Afghanistan; Slam the Taliban in Af and Pakistan hard enough to provide a buffer zone to give the Afghans time to do what they will. Ask them for a time line for them to become self sustaining. Pricey but leaving would open the flood gates to the Taliban, rivers of blood and oppression, and leave very little chance of ever gaining trust in the region again. Iraq; stick to the time line provided. Give strategic support where appropriate and asked for. Global financial stability. Very complicated. There are more potholes ahead and no one is REALLY confident right now. Spend less and watch more banks and companies and jobs go down? Or try to prop up the economy long enough to let people recover their confidence and resume spending. This is step one in my opinion. Without a middle class spending freely, the entire financial house of cards will collapse. Obama did not create this mess and it will take time to allow things to turn around no matter what course is taken. To simply pull the rug out from under the Bush spending would have been a huge blow to the already dying economy. Radical change from that path would have been certain collapse. Does this mean I am for war? No. I think we should have bombed the Taliban after 911 and hunted down Osama as Bush said he would "regardless of where he was or who was assisting him". It would have been a clear symbolic stopping point. The entire world outside of the radical Muslim fundamentalist community would have supported it. That didn't happen. So now we are stuck with pussy-footing through Pakistan trying to catch the mouse without spilling the milk. Meanwhile, they play the Afghan card to keep us unfocused and ineffectual. Iraq. Never should have happened. Totally illegal and cost us global support for what we really needed to do in Afgahnistan. Huge spending on bailouts? Neccessary evil. Bush-Cheney oil inc milked this country dry with a oil company free for all. Meanwhile, they allowed wall street to do whatever they wanted. It should be criminal. In the end, their free for all collapesed on itself and there was nothing left in the middle class to cushion the blow. We had already been milked dry. Yes Clinton was guilty too. That was eight years ago though and Bush had all that time, public support and majority rule in ALL branches of government to straighten things out and he did not. Now conservatives are asking why Obama has not straightened everything out in a little over one year. That is what makes no sense to me.

You'll fit right in. Just act like you are posting in spray.

Shock and awe? You mean Bush style like Afgahnistan where we gave Osama a little time to rest so he could move his dialysis machinery into Pakistan? Pretty selective memory methinks. You haven't been sniffing Tvash's butt hairs have you?
-
Cool. The music was tedious. Pink Floyd would have been more appropriate.

Hope your butt hairs got singed.

For me it was the adventure. Not to get an adrenaline rush or anything like that. At least not after I cratered when I was 19. It was just fun to see what I would find. In the B'root we didn't document anything outside of Blodgett, Kootenei, Mill, and White Horse. We just told others about it in case they wanted to branch out. The cool thing about that IMO, is that anyone could go back and do the first ascents all over again.

Reminded me of my first wife. She was 5'11" and had a warrior spirit. I thought the tails were way under utilized.

Remember to take your crampons off.

Reminds me of the Off Belay cartoon and story about the guys bolted to Lost Arrow when it broke off and fell to the floor.

You're not Awful. You're just a liberal pagan with strong opinions and no tact. Is it too early to wish you a happy valentines day?
-
Good. Then you'll stop whining soon? Happy New Year!

So did anyone ever respond to your classified ad?

Been married for 25 years. Guess that one who left you was a little "too smart", eh? As you may have noticed, I don't comment about other people's wives. For example, I don't laugh at a fellow climber and all around good guy when, say, his wife has developed bipolar disorder and he's going through an unwanted but necessary divorce with two young kids. Ring a bell, FW? Yeah, that rang a big bell with me, too. Pretty much summed you up. You're both assholes for going there regardless of your reasons. FW's current post is poor taste for sure. But TTK, as much as I like a lot of your posts, you did cut into me in a VERY hurtful way when I posted about fending off my ex's ex with a gun when he went crazy and tried to break into the house my young children and I were in. I used a gun to scare him off and nobody got hurt. It would have changed the lives of everyone in my family if I had not done what I did or if I had had to fight him off after he kicked in my door and was coming at me with a tire iron. You posted some shit about how I got myself into it by marrying the mother of the 13 year old boy who's father was trying to kill him. You said it was a poor choice or some shit like that. Never mind he was not exhibiting symptoms until 2 years after I married the woman. Never mind anything. You have demonstrated that you will post anything and say it is “just spray”. Get off your high horse and wallow in the shit with your kindred spirit. You spew the same kind of shit that I see in this thread. Merry Christmas.

Hemp was one of the most profitable comodities in the world for centuries. Then one day, someone figured out that it would be even more profitable on the black market. Dingbats and drivelLords make these laws. The outcome is violent crime over money. At least the pharmecutical companies don't control it. Then the Reblicons would be behind it 100%.

I agree with DPS. Except you might want four days up there to allow for some peak bagging. There are a few non-technical peaks up there. You could even do the back side of Dragontail without getting into any technical climbing.

Just in case I run out of gas or ammunition.

I am buying four. One for each daughter. Do they come with condom dispensers?

I'm the majority in my own mind.

Don't apologize to Pete. You will only encourage him. The trip you are asking about is totally reasonable in safe avalanche conditions. It would be a great trip. Coming out the Stuart Lk TH would mean coming down Asgard pass. It is very steep. Cliffy in places. You have to pick your route carefully. Or watch this board closely and see who is doing climbs on Dragontail. They will all come down Asgard pass. PM them about the route down the pass. Most people here will be happy to share information. Also watch avy conditions and weather forcast. So the list is: Get good beta from people who have recently traveled the steep parts. Follow avy danger and weather for a few weeks before your trip. When things look good, boogie. Don't ask for bootpack beta down Asgard pass and expect it to be useful a week later.

Do you need a permit to climb Hood? Are there any checkin procedures at all? Where will the money come from to enforce any law that is passed? I would sit and wait for the smoke to clear. Or write your congress people. I would be more concerned about the Mt Bachelor situation where a corporate entity has the enforcement team in place.

Politician. Anyone who wants the job should be automatically disqualified.

The death penalty should not be argued as a deterent. It's usefulness is in removing worthless scum with nothing to lose from the prison environment. Get back on topic now.......
