Ok, I have a long weekend and it looks like the bc is going to be sketchy, so I'm thinking lift serve but not Hood. Where's the better terrain - Crystal or Bachelor? Never been to Crystal but I've heard good things. Only been to Bach in the rain and that sucked.

Not yet. Got a call a couple of hours ago; they are going through the climber regs for Sunday looking for info.

Vail if you can afford it. A-Basin rocks if you can make the drive (maybe an hour). Or ski backcountry at Loveland Pass and hitch rides back to the top.

Climb the ridge top proper?

Ya, it was clear above the Palmer, at least while we were there. Tried Leuthold's but kept getting pelted hard by falling ice after the sun hit the ridges, so we turned back just before the hourglass. Otherwise solid snowpack and good climbing conditions.

It was quite a whiteout Sunday afternoon. Got thick just above the top of Palmer and stayed that way until Timberline. It all moved in a bit before 11am. Some of the worst visability I've ever been in. I remember myself thinking the whole way down - so this is how people get lost up here... Hope everyone endss up ok.

I watched two people get a $70 ticket as well last Labor Day, the ranger was on the edge of the valley with binoculars. Sneeky.

Wait, what's with this back tie thing - does it assume you are still on belay and are threading the chains to be lowered? I always do that before I rap off the anchors but only because I'm paranoid about dropping the rope...

Have four of them, they seem to place really well, though with their shape I could see them getting stuck more than a traditional hex. I don't use them as much now that I have some cams.

Nice, maybe that'll keep the cluster factor down out there this summer...
