    Orange alert

Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?
  3. Does anyone know when (how many years ago) BD switched designs on their cams from the u-loop type cable to a single stem? I have some of the old style bought used, trying to figure out how old they are. Thx.
  4. I put it at the end of every line of code I write....

    Bike Thieves Suck

Sux Rob, sorry to hear it. Used to work in a bike shop many moons ago, and this trick worked for someone - pull your fork out and scratch or tape "This Bike was stolen - contact...." onto the tube that goes into the headset. If it ever gets into a bike shop and gets taken apart it might get noticed.
  6. I always thought Krakaur was a whiny little beyatch, that show confirmed it...
  7. Has anyone headed up the South Side via Morrison Creak when the gate is closed in springtime? Looks like a better approach, though each time I end up walking the road to Cold Springs...
  8. Nice pics!
  9. So I'm without a car and too lazy to do anything on Hood this weekend, but the sun should be shining. Anyone up for some rock this weekend, Broughton, etc.? I'd be up for something out of bike range too if someone wants to drive. Trad, sport, whatever.
  10. Ha! Follow me into the trees, follow me down the steeps. I know too many people who who received head injuries w/o a helmet skiing and now they can't do shit. My head pays my salary, so I'm not messing around.
  11. Let's remember what happened to Sony Bono... Helmets rule.

    2-way radios

I've got the cheapies - Uniden 5 mile FRS, same price as the Motorola 2 mile FRS, at Fry's a bunch of months ago. Works great. edit - oops meant FRS not GMRS...
  13. The Lowe Alpine Attack comes with two removable longish loops running from each shoulder strap (at about chest level) to the side of the pack, simulating one of the fancy over the shoulder type things. Seems like an easy custom addition to any pack. I've never used it since all the alpine climbs I've done with a pack needed far short of a full rack, he he.
  14. Ahhh, so true, so true.
  15. I've never been up there when it is closed - were there signs saying so that you guys missed? We all know now, but in the past I have had a relatively tough time figuring out when the closure period was.
  16. Yeah Tim. Of course their method of climbing with a party of nine was pretty interesting stuff too.....
  17. Lance Amrstrong's resting heart rate is reported to be 32 bpm.
  18. It's good because it means ones heart is strong and can pump the required amount of blood while resting without working hard (ie more beats).
  19. Huh? Is the booster strap different than the velcro strap that comes with the boots?
  20. Dwayner man, you are just not funny.
  21. Winter, what you end up getting for skis?
  22. Yes, boots and bindings a few weeks ago. Ordered through email on a Friday afternoon, arrived the next Tuesday. Great service, go for it.

    high winds

... or the Slammer worm, he he.
  24. I've used a Gri-Gri many times, and it has always held my falls. Doesn't feed particulary well, but its easy to pull the slack through with one hand. Oh, I do tie backup cloves every so often.
