  1. I want to go to Yosemite in May. Will I? ... a different questions
  2. they're French?
  3. I think a lot of bad writing comes from people trying to match the cliched overly melodramatic TR archetype. Too many 10cent words. But usually the more people write, the better they get, so I wouldn't want to discourage anyone just because their mangled syntax makes me cringe from time to time. I agree with CrazyJZ's point about length, for me the post entertaining stories are usually fairly short. Sk and Jk had a good one a few months back that was like 3 paragraphs but a great fun read.
  4. This site has the potential to be a great resource of route information, but only if that information is posted publically so that it can be archived. People who only drop by to look up beta do not add to this resource in any way. In my opinion they have not earned the right to direct the structure of this site because they have made no positive contribution. Even something as simple as asking directly and publically for the information you want is a positive contribution because the responses will then be archived. If this website, a 'shared online community' doesn't meet your wants, AND you are unwilling for whatever reason to do your part to help make it more useful, then in my opinion you should just walk away because it is not for you.
  5. e-mail this guy: lesmorken@yahoo.com he'll sell you some Ramers for $10+$8 shipping and one dollar goes to some avalanche centre. not releasable, no heel-piece.

    Aid Climbing 101

you can do a rec.climbing google search, check tradgirl.com and the Fish Products website to get more info. Also the Self Rescue book by David Fasulo is a good one to read. But it's easy to get information overload. There's lots of different ideas out there.
  10. there is usually a safe no-rope route in winter.
  11. Dr. Flash Amazing you should get some tricams. They come in pretty colours like pink and red so they will coordinate well with your lycra. Plus they are the BOMB, dood.
  12. It's called turf toe. It happens to football players too. It'll go away.
  13. no you don't .... not by a long shot. but, that doesn't mean you shouldn't lead climb. Best to start on climbs well below your no-falls/no-hangs top-rope level.
  14. yeah, he woulda mentioned it right away. Likely by saying "OW! A small rock just hit me"
  15. is it the one where they are hanging from the helicopter and the rope breaks?

    Yosemite ratings?

I've hardly climbed at either Index or Yosemite (like 4 pitches each place). But my impression was that for short craggin'-type routes Yosemite isn't much different than Squamish, Index is burlier.
  17. can you explain some? ... just curious.
  18. stinky hair and bloodshot eyes? every problem has a solution:
