Double_E: don't be a mome. Look again. Some numbers: 1,000 posts in 250 days = 4 posts per day. Good job, Pax...I guess.

    You --> L (like me)
  3. Crust was very walkable on Trappers Peak yesterday too...
  4. I know a 60-something guy who said he's been taking it. He says his doctor told him to take more than less. The guy, who is a climber, says the improvement has been amazing. So consider that an endorsement for it. I took glucosamine for a while but can't report much of a difference, probably because I'm only in my 30s and don't have knee or joint problems. (I got the bottle for cheap with a coupon so said 'why not.')
  5. If you should happen to see this plane flying about in the Cascades, know that this is John Scurlock and that you might therefore want to check his website shortly thereafter for some new dynamite photos... Here he is flying over Trappers Peak on December 23, 2004:
  6. Happy Birthday, Icegirl! So when are you going to start looking over 25?
  7. Ernie, I saw it initially. I just stopped caring.

    Dream

But they didn't do Da Toof while they were up thisaway. What losers!
  9. Here is a trip report for the area (some relevant info, perhaps).
  10. My ordering has less to do with desire and more to do with physiology. Ergo, my "movement" always hits me later than sooner. Pax, you should start a poll to ascertain the majority ordering. I can't.
  11. Why not? Didn't take that long. I've done way more vertical in a day than those two combined (~4,000 ft) so it was no big deal. And where were you? Did you ever get up to Alta, Craig?
  12. For some the three esses are Shit-Shower-Shave. For others it is Shower-Shit-Shave. I myself am a Shave-Shower-Shit kind of guy.
  13. A five-year-old can have lots of energy. Heck, he probably didn't even realize it was uphill. I've gone hiking with non-climber friends and have been surprised by some of them for their utter lack of ability to even hike up a logging road. (My previous post had a typo: probably properly was properly probably.)

    Incredibles?

I see what you're saying. So we both make good points. However, I think your use of the word "dilute" is a bit strong. You only get nominated if you're worthy of nomination. If you're worthy, you're probably going to be the only one of your genre placed in the list of candidates--one out of four, or five, or six. It would be interesting to hear from the horse's mouth (those involved with the making of animated features and documentaries) whether they thought they ought to have a chance at Best Picture or should just be happy with their designated category.

    Incredibles?

Think not of separate but equal, think of echelons or hiearchies. In my mind, every production has a chance to make a film within any category that can become Best Picture. The separate categories like animated feature and documentary are there to provide an Oscar to films that couldn't win Best Picture but are still worthy to receive such an award. This in no way means they should be relegated to that category.

    Incredibles?

I am aware of that category. But the ultimate category is Best Picture. In order for the best animated picture to jump up to the higher echelon it would have to have three things going for it: 1. It would have to be an incredible effort 2. It would have to gross $$$$ 3. The non-animated competition would have to be weak All three are satisfied this year.

    Incredibles?

There has never been an animated movie that one Best Picture at the Academy Awards (list of winners). I say it's about time for the genre as The Incredibles was a fantastic effort. It was the best movie I've seen this year. Granted I haven't seen them all, I know.
  18. I ran up Little Si on Saturday, December 11. In the afternoon (2PM or so) there were very few parking spots available. I imagine in summer people are parking on the road. It's actually a pretty small parking lot considering the venue and the closeness to metropolitan areas. I wouldn't be surprised if, in peak season (all year?), 150 people per day set foot on that trail. Fortunately, the first 300 yards of trail is steep and that probably thwarts the less fit among us. As for the climb, at a brisk stride, I made it to the top in about 40 minutes. It provides a better view than Big Si. A good place to take a date perhaps.
  19. There's one up at the Sahale Arm camp at about 7,600 ft. Is that one higher than Boston Basin? What exactly is a toilet vault anyway?
  20. So something's been eating at me today ever since I left the slopes of Big Foot Hill... ...if you are lucky enough to come upon two of them in the wild and want to talk or write about them later, are they bigfeet or bigfoots or bigfoot? What's the plural? And, for that matter, what's the plural of sasquatch? Hmmmm?
  21. A tazer would be a good way to put yourself to sleep at night. Bug: did you ever consider that the problem might have been....you?
  22. Please clarify. Just what the heck are you talking about?... ...I just found out that walkable crusts are possible at this very moment. I made toast, ate the center, laid the remainder on the ground and then walked over it. It was very walkable indeed. No Virgin Mary images to be concerned with.
  23. Here was Chair Peak last Monday (Dec. 13) from the north (from Mt. Price):
