Ok since nobody else has brought up the comparison, I'll be the ignoramous. Why would you want military webbing as opposed to the recreation grade? Stronger, more resilient, better in elements?

Damn! You beat me to it!! Saw this same topic brought up on some other board. Maybe an independent source will start banging out some tests on the C3s and C4s. I own one BD cam and pretty much all of their tapers. So I don't have brand loyalty to them. My question is it only BD that is outsourcing to the new "Made in Taiwan"? I know TNF outsources to China as does REI. Have the quality of its products gone down as well? Or you can take the conscientious consumer stance on products made in a communist dictatorship that censors human rights and is raping the environment so badly that it makes the U.S. look guilty of nothing more than heavy petting?

I started by using some Tuas with 404s. Half way through that first season I got some AT boots. And having done both, I would use AT boots every single time! They are rather stiff and uncomfortable for anything less steep than kicking steps into slopes. But what you mountains you hihglight, you can easily get an ascent in AT boots and don't need the mountaineering boots. Also the difference between a binding like the 404s and something like the Pures or Naxos is HUGE!!! In the 404s I felt I sometimes had control. In the Pures, I DO have control. Here's a Silvretta Pures pic of my setup

No fair. We might have gotten an inch up in the mountains here in Colorado from the storm today - though when I checked the Indian Peaks cam it wasn't even snowing there. I think I like my skis too much to try what you did, but good on you for getting out. I was mountain biking and bouldering in upper 70s when you were bundled up.

I have a nest by my bedroom window. Actually the wasps and I cohabit peacefully on my balcony. It was the yellow jackets I had to get a trap for.

Do their shoes even touch the rock going that fast?!

So are you just poetic or who are you ripping this from?

I was just about to say that. I remember visiting my dad down there when I was a kid and going rock climbing on a Friday and going skiing and getting sunburnt on Saturday.

That would at least give the tourons something to talk about while they gawk through their binoculars.

I thought you were going to link to the 2-kilometer climb in Greenland. That one caught my attention, especially the rappel in the waterfall.

Went bouldering with the occasional sound of mountain bikers wizzing past below me. Took a while to warm up but ended up ticking two problems that had spit me off unceremoniously in the past. Enjoyed a nice sunset as the sun went behind the Rockies. But I didn't take purdy pictures like you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. May they be at peace.

One of the few highlights at my current job was getting one of these daring soldiers for our show. Talked with him for 30 minutes afterwards and the stories were amazing. It puts things into perspective, especially a comment he made about how the best times were traveling in the mountains. They would be in these beautiful places and could mentally escape while trudging along. But then the sounds of war would bring him back to reality of why they were there.

You either are a masochist or an aid climber. Nobody else could enjoy that kind of pain. I suppose you floss with Devil's Club as well? skull As for Viagra, my buddy calls it his little blue friend.

"Climb" - Boukreev's account of the '96 Everest disaster. Anything that makes Kraukauer look like the sanctimonious prick that he is has to rate high.

"Aspirants, we tip our hats to these climbers, but we are not them. He took it facing right and hung a bit, aided a bit, grunting his way up it as I encouraged him on, thankful that it was him, wondering how it would go come my turn." To this I say, "Bravo!" Had fun reading this. -
Sweet! That is an awesome climb.

Now that is funny. I'm only an hour drive from Colo Springs, I can go recruit some more McLovin and send them migrating up there. Heal properly Porter. The rock isn't going anywhere and there are plenty of breweries out there for you to frequent.

I climbed this six years ago today. I know, it's a very mixed day in my personal history. Hope you took the time to pick some blueberries on the knob.

"He didn't think he was sure he had legs to come down." What? And yes, it was a slow news day if they ran that. Look at the bright side, at least they didn't call them hikers!!

Very nice guys. Where you able to find water along the way in the form of snow or did you have to carry it all? -
I get 26 mpg. That's not bad at all.

My experience with 2-person groups is to split it up in thirds, and each person carries said fraction of the rope coiled.
