  1. thanks!
  2. What about SE Asia? Sweat factories? If the conditions are so bad in the factories, why do people want the jobs so bad? Because its better than starving to death? So a job in a sweat factory aint so bad? Becuase the alternative is death?
  3. I heard that President Bush made a scheduled fundraising stop in San Diego two days after Hurricane Katrina hit...but he did nothing for Katrina at that time. The trip to San Diego was scheduled and he made the trip during is vacation. Is this true?
  4. I with ya on a free market.

  6. The people who monitor where I go to on the web are too busy to see where I go. I have seen them watch downloaded video porn.
  7. I like that. I would like people to help out others. I think it is a great human response. In fact we have donated to the Red Cross recently for Hurricane Katrina....then again, it is up to the Red Cross how to spend the money. I do not like the assumption however that some make thay should receive help. "Should" is a very powerful word and is closely associated with "entitlement".
  8. Because you never asked them. Because you don't speak the same language. Because, ah fuck, it's not even worth it anymore. You honestly think the US and Europe are the only places in the world where people believe the government should fix things? Travel, talk to people. Get a fucking clue. Actually, I do know a little bit. My next door neighbor works for World Vision. He has been to Niger recently, he has been to western Sudan recently. He goes about 2 weeks once every three months to these distressed areas. Part of his job. Helping out with the relief. He also is perplexed by the people who feel entitled in New Orleans. I expressed my concerns to him, and he said he felt for the people, but he did not understand why so many stayed in a hurricane path when they were ordered to leave. Maybe he was just trying to agree with me becuase I am a neighbor? Many of the refugees go to where there is aid. Many of the refugees leave their area becuase of being shot at...possible genocide, and conditions in the areas in Niger had received no rain for an extended period of time. But also pointed out, none of the people complain....they are all very thankful for the aid they do receive. Then again, these people do not pay taxes either. No real monetary system set up, just a lot of subsistence living.
  9. thanks for keeping us informed.
  10. Hey, my wife works with criminals too. She is a social worker. She constantly sees the entitlement thing too on a daily basis. There is just a class of people just are not willing to take their responsibilty of their own life into their own hands. She says the black population often complain it is becuase of their color, and the white folk complain just about everything....whereas the main culprit is just their economic situation for both races.
  11. How come the estimated 2 million people in Niger do not complain about help lack of help or, "Where's the government?" How come when I watched the results of the tsunami, I never saw anyone complaining about lack of help or asking, "Where's the government?"
  12. What? You can't tolerate a difference of opinion?
  13. So why are people being forced out of their homes now?
  14. Uh. No bitching. I know that I could die. I have been on a couple of international expeditions. I know that a result of my actions, I could die. I did not move from my accident. Pain had subsided about 2 hours after the accident. Within 1 hour there would have been darkness. If I had moved, and the helicopter came, then they would not find me. So why would I move? If I knew the helicopter was not to come, then I would have to move on my own. Shit, I can't even believe I can walk. I do not even expect the doctor to fix me up.
  15. I feel for the people who could not leave. Those people in the rest home where the workers left without them. That is sick. I guess I am mainly pissed off at the people who complain the government "should" always help them--but they chose not to leave. And then when the shit hit the fan, they decided to say, "Where's the government?" E-rock. You must be a teenager. Name calling and all. Pretty much shows your age.
  16. Not given up. Just gotta lot of work to do. No time to spray. I be back. Good discussion! By the way, I was willing to crawl out of the Enchantments from my accident. I am still willing to pay for helicopter rescue, but no one has given me a bill. I asked, so I did make an attempt. I guess the military has a lot of paperwork. You can still see it now in New Orleans. People don't want to leave. Then when things get really bad in their house, they will ask for help. What kind of fucked up shit is that? That is why they are ordering people to leave and actually breaking into houses. Same shit happened to people in the Superdome and Convention Center. People did not want to leave (majority) any way, things got bad, and then they expected help. I also have two brothers and a cousin on welfare. I saw the same attitudes on television with them. They expect the government to help. They do not take responsibility for their own lives. I still have my opinion. But good discussion folks!
  17. This is just sick. Sick I tell you.
  18. Your compassion overwhelms. Are you including the gang-raped 5 year old in your blanket statements? Huh? People who want help becuase they chose not to leave is hypocritical. Those people who were stranded need to take responsibility for their own lives. By that logic, intentionally putting yourself into a potentially life-threatening situation and then asking for, and accepting help when you get hurt is also hypocritical. Those people who get injured while climbing, therefore, need to take responsibility for their own lives. So true you are. In fact I have been rescued. However, it was my responsibility from where I was at. It was my responsibility to get back. I requested a helicopter. It was under no obligation for the government to send one to me. Oh. And I never bitched about it. I also never expected a helicopter. I never expected help. I do not whine. My life is my responsibility.
  19. How did the people get to the Superdome? How did the people get to the Convention Center?

  21. Even the poorest people can walk 8 miles over two days.
  22. Remember, these people were ordered to leave. They chose not to leave.
  23. Congratulations. IMO One of the top 3 achievements in the past 3 years. Sick.
  24. Does anybody know about the 2 million estimated starving in Niger?
  25. I have a friend going through a bone marrow transplant. He cannot contact the donor to thank him. The donor lives in Italy. Why is this so? Two separate bone marrow recipients in the U.S. (from bone marrow donors in Italy) each had different complications due to their transplants. They each tried to sue the bone marrow donors in Italy. The Italian government is now protecting future bone marrow donors from being sued. Only in America.
